Have to love that they sent out an email last night saying we could get in on the testing; I download the client and start playing a bit of it, take a break and come back to this. Such a smart way to get people started.
I know you're being sarcastic, but it really is smart to stress the server. Your frustration is encouraging in that it shows you want to play. Have fun when it's back up running.

I did not know it was a daily thing, I assumed it was a weekly thing like most games. They should add a splash when the maintenance is and an estimate on the duration. That was one of the things I liked about APB.
Is there a way to darken the dialogue windows in the game? They are hard to read and the text is tiny.

I would love the dialogue to be easier to read. I hope that is on thier list. That issue has been raised a few times.

Not yet. It's on the list somewhere I'm sure. I'm not fond of the current chat box or font either. It'll be nice when more options available.

They don't yet have the tech to send server-wide messages outside chat. They've been trying to make sure a Goblinworks person's on-line before the window, to warn folks, but the chat window can occasionally run so fast you'll not catch the notice(s).

Snarky comments aside, did you read the very first line of the email they sent you inviting you into alpha? No? Go back and take a read. :)

LOL yeah that's pretty tiny, Giorgo. From a design standpoint, that is almost not even meant to be read, what with it being followed immediately by giant, colorful letters welcoming the new player to the game ;) They could have put that in the main text of the email, since most players would have read the whole thing while they awaited the download.

I've been pretty good about doing that on weekdays. Weekends, not so much. ;)

My view point exactly. I didn't notice that at all until it was pointed out and then it took me about 20 secs to find what he was talking about. I'm use to companies not being shy about when maintenance is to be performed. That placement and size is like their trying to hind the fact.

@Maldar,
I am aware of the tiny font, the lack of in game notifications, and the surprise for new players of this (and the fact Ryan didn't mention it in the email or blog a bit more noticeable); and I agree that putting an in-game notification is important for EE.
They are not "hiding the fact"; since Alpha 7.1 it is a known issue about maintenance, and it is just a matter of resources spent on this matter is resources not spent on something more important. Ryan has stated that a notification is important, but not as important as other top priority things.
Finally, comments such as "Such a smart way to get people started" come across as unhelpful passive-aggressive and/or demeaning, unwanted, and disrespectful of the (small) hardworking team of developers getting this game designed; especially by someone's who's first posting is a negative one.
We have a good positive community here, you can disagree, dissent, and argue to your hearts content and find very helpful and friendly people who respond in kind. Welcome to the madhouse, please enjoy your stay. :)

Obviously I see my minor comment has struck a cord that people have to take such great offense. If a notification is important as you say he has mentioned, why is the sentence in the email so small and not in the main body of text? Make it more noticeable. What they did is a common tactic to draw the reader's attention away from that line. It is common in advertising to use small plain text for things you don't want people to see, while using large colorful images and larger text to draw the eye's attention to what you want the view/reader to notice. Sorry that I see it for what it is, standard Advertising/Marketing subterfuge.
We have all heard that you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Thanks sspitfire, appreciate you looking out for the other players. Curse this body's need for sleep.
