Single-handedly slaying a creature

Scarab Sages

If you have an animal companion/familiar or else you are a spell caster summoning an ally or else using a magic item that summons an ally AND together you and your summoned or controlled ally/companion/familiar defeat an enemy creature, is that considered to be you defeating the creature "single-handedly", as if the companion/ally/familiar was a weapon in your hand?

I ask because of the description of the Ring of Elemental Command:

All four kinds of rings of elemental command are very powerful. Each appears to be nothing more than a lesser magic ring until fully activated (by meeting a special condition, such as

***single-handedly slaying an elemental of the appropriate type or exposure to a sacred material of the appropriate element)***,

but each has certain other powers as well as the following common properties.

Sczarni

Since the ring in question is outside the WBL of PFS, I think the specific example you're using is a little moot.

But, for purposes of regaining Grit or Panache, I'm pretty sure it has to be *you* that deals the killing blow.

The full-powered, active, ring, yes, but there is at least one source that is PFS-legal for a fairly affordable dormant ring.

Scenario Information:
Destiny of the Sands, Part 1: A Bitter Bargain includes the chance to gain access to
Quote:
Dormant ring of earth elemental command (casts meld with stone [CL 5th] once per day on command; fully activating the ring may require a special task and the expenditure of additional gold; 5,400 gp)

Is there a way to activate said ring?

Not yet, but it's a unique item that's on my list of items for which I'm on the lookout for good opportunities to upgrade them.

I may have to go back and buy that on my character then! Exciting :)

Spoiler:
The beacon below has a big bucket o' plane of earth batter that might work

Spoiler:
The Night March of Kalkamedes

Yeah, I've got the GM credit from that on a random character number that I'm saving until the sword gets repaired.
