What do you fine folk think of these houserules?
WANDS AND STAVES
Charges have been done away with. There is no "Juice" to run out of.All magical items are bound to the Weave and fueled by it's inexhaustable power. However, there is a limit to the amount of times items may tap into the weave .
· WANDS- may have up to 3 spells enchanted into them, only one of which may be above 2nd level.
Any 1st or 2nd level spell may be cast 3/day.
Any 3rd level spell may be cast 2/day.
A 4th level spell may only be cast once per day
ALL magical wands give the Wielder +2 to hit with spells that require an Attack roll.
A multi-spell wand costs the same as making 2 or 3 single spell wands, but the total crafting time is halved.
· STAVES-May have up to 6 spells enchanted into them, only 2 of which may be above 4th level.
Any 1st or 2nd level spell may be cast 3/day.
Any 3rd or 4th level spell may be cast 2/day.
Any 5th or 6th level spell may be cast once per day.
ALL magical Staves may apply REACH to a TOUCH range spell once per day.
Base price = spell level × caster level × 1000gp.Crafted the same as Wands.

Well, the pricing structure presented up top...for say..a wand.Is the cost listed in the book for wands, only the creator must pay for each spell in the wand as if he were making an entire 50 charge wand of that spell.core-Wands: Base price = spell level × caster level × 750 gp.
So the cost for a wand with: cure light wounds CL5(3/day) =3,750
Restoration CL3 (3/day) =4,500
Holy smite CL8 (1/day) =24,0000
TOTAL= 32,250
IS THAT TOO LITTLE? I was more worried that it might be too much...especially for the higher level spells with greater cost multipliers. (and fewer daily uses)
The staff formula is the same both with 1,000 instead of 750.
I'm open to suggestions,I'm pretty sold on the mechanics themselves,I'm distinctly less sure about whether "The price is right".

A magic item that casts restoration 3/day with a CL 3 has a price of 14,400 gp. Technically, you can't even do that because restoration has a minimum CL 7 (the level a cleric has to be to cast it).
If staves grant Reach Spell, you have to add the price of a Reach Spell metamagic rod to that as well.

I meant lesser Restoration-My apologies.
Here are my houserules on bound items.
· BOUND ITEMS-Have various effects,by type.
Wands:Give the wielder a +2 bonus to hit with spells that req an attack.
Staves:Provide the wielder with the Metamagic feat.Reach spell.
A spell cast from the staff is automatically a reach spell.
Rods-Provide the wielder with the Metamagic feat:heighten spell.
A spell cast from the rod is automatically heightened.
Rings-Provide the bearer with the Metamagic feat:Still spell.
A spell cast from the ring is automatically stilled.
Amulets- Provide the bearer with the Metamagic feat:Silent spell.
A spell cast from the amulet is automatically silenced.
Weapons-May be used to deliver touch attacks from spells.
The attack must hit targets non-touch AC,spells are only discharged on a successful attack roll(or possibly on a fumble.) normal weapon damage is also dealt.
Only spells with a touch attack delivery component may be transmitted.
The attached effects probably seem more appropriate when you know the above.

The mechanics seem OK, and much more in line with wands and staves from fiction. Does the staff get the current caster level = wielder's caster level rule?
Pricing-wise, I think the higher level ones are definitely too expensive, most notably because of the uses per day. I'd drop it to x400 for 2/day, x300 for 1/day. And a bit more for staves. Items with high level spells are already very expensive, so only viable for certain spells.

Sounds good Mudfoot.I will take your advice and reduce the cost of the lesser times per day spells.
Staves will cast spells equal wielders caster level...I figure the minimum caster lvl req of the higher level spells should keep the price plenty high.
Does it seem easily abuse-able if done that way?

I doubt it'll break anything.
You may find that there are certain spells which get used very regularly for which this is a bit good, and lots of spells (CLW) for which it's considerably worse than the current scheme. But I don't foresee a major problem unless you have a crafting powergamer with a splatbook.
