Not being able to order

Hello, I have the following problem:

I am trying to place an order (about 80-90 items).
Every time I try to rpoceed to checkout, I am redirected to the main page or I am asked to sign in as a returning costumer which sends me back to the main page as well.

So far...

I have tried this at least a hundred times.

I have reduced the number of items in the order to about 20 (I read on the board that this worked forsomeone...but not for me)
I have rebuilt the list and tried again (some items in the initial order were not available anymore)

On two occasions, I went through to be able to enter my shipping address (was sent to main page afterwards) and my billing information (was sent to main page afterwards)

So far I do not think I have been able to confirm my order.

My questions would be....

Are there any pending orders from my side?
You can imagine I do not really want to have 100+ time the same items...

If yes...can they be reduced to one order?

If no...how can I finally confirm ONE order?

I'm sorry for any trouble you were having with placing your order. We have been noticing on some of the larger orders that they system has been having a hard time process some of them. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience.

There are not any orders on this particular account. I am only seeing 82 unsubmitted items in your shopping cart.
