Tactical Expertise and Edges (new fighter features)

Homebrew and House Rules

Verdant Wheel

This is a 1st-level ability that dovetails into a repeating 4th level ability.

I wanted a system that could easily sit on top of existing 'teamwork' mechanics, mining the fighter's superior attack metrics to hopefully enhance strategic options.

Tactical Expertise (new):

Spoiler:

Tactical Fighter
01 Bonus Feats, Combat Expertise +1
02 Bonus Feat, Bravery +1
03 Armor Training I
04 Bonus Feat, Edges, Expertise +2
05 Weapon Training I
06 Bonus Feat, Bravery +2
07 Armor Training II, Edge
08 Bonus Feat, Expertise +3
09 Weapon Training II
10 Bonus Feat, Edge, Bravery +3

Combat Expertise:
Fighters are capable warriors, using their brains as well as their brawn to bring down their enemies. A 1st level fighter gains Combat Expertise as a bonus feat, and he may use the feat when making a ranged attack. The fighter also begins to apply the bonus granted by Combat Expertise in new ways. This is called the fighter's 'expertise bonus,' and it is only calculated using BAB gained from fighter levels.

The fighter gains additional attacks of opportunity per round equal to his expertise bonus.

Whenever the fighter gains a new fighter bonus feat, he may add his expertise bonus to his BAB for determining his effective BAB when making his selection. When qualifying early for a feat this way, he must otherwise meet any and all prerequisites (including ability score prerequisites) as normal.

Tactical Edges:
Fighters orchestrate clever team tactics to gain the upper hand against their enemies. When the fighter uses Combat Expertise, any foe he hits becomes marked for 1 round. Starting at 4th level, and again every 3 fighter levels, the fighter selects one tactical Edge (below). The fighter may forfeit the AC bonus from Combat Expertise to instead grant allies within 60 feet his expertise bonus against marked foes. This is a competence bonus which modifies the type of attack rolls, skill checks, and saving throws detailed in the Edges he possesses.

-Attack of Opportunity Edge
-Cognition Skill Edge (Sense Motive, Perception)
-Critical Confirmation Edge
-Finesse Maneuver Edge (Disarm, Feint, Trip)
-Fortitude Save Edge
-Mobility Skill Edge (Acrobatics, Escape Artist, Stealth)
-Power Maneuver Edge (Bull Rush, Grapple, Overrun, Sunder)
-Readied Attack Edge
-Reflex Save Edge
-Psychological Skill Edge (Bluff, Intimidate)
-Will Save Edge
