For your combat check, reveal this card to use your Dexterity or Ranged skill + 1d6+1; you may additionally bury this card to add another 2d6. Add another 1d8 if the bane has the Aquatic trait.
Do you get the extra 1d8 vs. Aquatic banes even if you just revealed the card? I'm tempted to say yes because the normal harpoon card has the same text/power except it's missing a burying option.
I'd say yes. It is a separate sentence, unconnected to burying it.
Yes, the period makes it clear that it is independent of the bury the clause.
I've been treating every card like that as if you don't get the extra die unless you bury (and therefore left the Vindictive Harpoon behind). I can see why you guys think otherwise, if the thought process is to connect the reveal and discard steps (with the semicolon). If that's the argument it makes me feel better, because that card seemed pretty weak for characters with few weapons.
