Levelling up to two (cleric)

Advice

Hi guys,

I'm a little confused about levelling up, and spells I can pick. The chart in the book shows that after level one, you only get to use spells one level below your character level. Am I reading that correctly? My level two character gets the same spells and casting allowance as at level one, but an extra 0 level spell?

You seem to be misreading the table somehow.

A Cleric 2 gets an additional orison (0-level spell) and an additional 1st-level spell. Add a domain spell, also first level, and a bonus based on your Wisdom. The Wisdom bonus is probably one 1st level spell unless your score is 20 or higher - unlikely at this level.

As you level up, you get 2nd-level spells when you hit Cleric 3, 3rd level spells at Cleric 5 and so forth. Generally you add a spell level for every 2 levels of Cleric.

That's great z thank you for the clarification.

Don't forget that as you level up the effects of most of your spells improve as well as you now use a higher caster level:
For Example Cure Light Wounds heals 1d8+ 1/caster level (max+5) hp
A level 1 cleric cures for 1d8+1 while a level 2 cleric cures for 1d8+2.

A cleric's caster level will be equal to their total number of cleric levels.
