I'm super new to the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, so I apologize for this question but I'm having trouble understanding what players can do when it's not their turn. I've watched some gameplay videos on youtube. I understand that other players can play blessing and powers during their turn. I understand that they can play 1 of each kind of card. I'm confused about using other cards. If it's my turn, and I come up against a Monster and I have no weapons or spell in my hand, can another character reveal a weapon or spell for me to use? Are characters that are not at your location able to play cards to help you? Thank you in advance if you can help this make sense to me. I've never played a game like this, but it looks so cool. I did play through the first scenario solo, so I didn't have to worry about what I could do to help other characters.

Cards you can play for a combat check say "For your combat check..." so you can only play them for your combat check, not someone else's. And you can only give cards as part of the "Give a card" step of your turn (unless you have a card to play that allows you to give cards at another time). So you can't hand someone else a card in the middle of an encounter.
In general, cards tell you when they can be played. Shortbows, for example, tell you that you can play them to add to a combat check by a character at another location. So you can't help a character at your location with that (nor can you help a character making a non-combat check.) Blessing of the Gods say you can play them to add to a (any) check. So it can be a check by a character at your location (including you) or at another location. The only thing you can't do is play a card to succeed for another character's check. So you can't play Thieve's Tools to defeat a barrier another character is encountering.
You might find this guide useful. It is written for Rise of the Runelords, but should apply to Skull and Shackles too.
