I'm trying to find out where to get more info on the Dominion of the Black.

Does anyone know which books cover them?

And have any book revealed WHAT are they/it/them exactly?

There really isn't a lot out there about them.

The first article that directly addresses the Dominion of the Black is going to be in Pathfinder #88: Valley of the Brain Collectors, part 4 of "Iron Gods," to be released in November 2014.

And, no, there hasn't yet been a Big Reveal about what they are. We do know the following bits about the Dominon of the Black:

  • The Dominion of the Black are some kind of alien intelligence connected to the Dark Tapestry (i.e. interstellar space) and the planet Aucturn. (c.f. Distant Worlds)
  • Desna knows of them and opposes them. (c.f. Inner Sea Gods)
  • Insanity is associated with those who have dealt with them. (c.f. Pathfinder #14: Children of the Void)
  • The Dominion had connections to Ancient Osirion, and had something to do with the Aucturn Enigma. (c.f. Entombed With the Pharaohs and Occult Mysteries of Golarion.)
  • The Dominion had dealings with the wizard-astronomers of Lirgen. (c.f. Doom Comes to Dustpawn, Lost Kingdoms)
  • Iron Gods spoiler:
An encounter with the Dominion of the Black is what ultimately caused the crash of the Androffan starship Divinity into the land of Numeria 6,000 years ago.

I'll add something...

The Dominion of the Black is NOT Lovecraft stuff. In fact, they often war against the minions of the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods.

This does not make either of them our friends, though.

So more like the xenomorphs from the Alien series and other H. R. Giger style stuff?

That's a better comparison, yes. They're not intended to be the actual xenomorphs though, of course.

"Valley of the Brain Collectors" will reveal a lot. There's more tidbits in "Occult Mysteries" as well.

I don't have the module in question, but isn't there something about the Dominion in The Dragon's Demand?

Thanks for the heads-up! Looking forward to book 4 of Iron Gods!

Given the cover art has a Ilee as the model, I assume it has something to do with the tenth planet Apostae as well?

That's a mock up cover. The final cover art isn't up on the site yet.

Lantern Lodge

Ah! That explains it. I was wondering why an older art work is used in the front cover of a new AP.

Does say much about the quality of the art work, even the older ones looks good enough to be on a cover. (It sure got me confused. :) )

There is but not much.

The Dragon's Demand Spoiler:

The titular dragon is studying and attempting to make contact with the Dominion but has only had limited success. He is seeking some books of ancient lore and has been sent some alien minions but that is about all there is for connections. Well, there is also a portal to outer space in his lair...

The same things we all like, without having to burn our pockets for! :)

Seriously, there are some grumbling by the older players/GMs in my area. I think it has to do with some levels of consumer fatigue... >_<

tired of it. honestly, you, and Jacobs need to quit promoting this stuff. Also Sutter. STOP TELLING ME ABOUT ALL THE GREAT THINGS YOU GUYS PUT OUT BECAUSE THEN I BUY IT.

Also, if you have a chance to talk to Sutter, can you ask him if be's got some more material about Bretheda's moons, because I have some interesting ideas....

Just bought Occult Mysteries (thanks for the recommendation Jake Jacobs) and boy... some interesting things. Particularly the inhuman nature (not necessarily evil nature) of the Dominion of the Black. Some fascinating stuff there.
