Role Playing Psionics Classes

Advice

In my most recent campaign I am taking part of the DM is letting Anything Goes policy when it comes to how you want to build and create your classes. The orc barbarian in the party was just given the okay to port over the Frenzied Berserker into the campaign as a prestige class.

The DM just told me while he is Frenzied/Raging he pretty much cant die unless met certain conditions. Which is fine because his ruling is If you start becoming broken he will set you aside and see how we can change the class after a session or he will just throw larger and stronger encounters at us. Pretty much throwing Psionic monsters at us.

I am playing an alchemist at the moment that after level 10 will be going into Master Chemist. Im playing my character as one of the first Witchers before they were called witchers focusing on the aspect of the Alchemy side of them.

Since we are playing a Level 20+ game with the Retiring Character rules. After Hitting level 20 i thought about going into Psychic Warrior Class Focusing on the path either Feral Warrior or Survival (Since the party has made me the tank).

I am unable to just at level 21 be like, Oh hey now I am a Psionic so thats a thing. I want to know how I can role play to becoming a Psionic and How to role play them once I do become the class if i meet the criteria for the class in role playing aspects.

Any Thoughts?

At the moment we are level 8 and here is some information about my class and race(Created for the Witcher Role playing).

Internal Alchemist Level 8 (Mutagen Focus)
Str:19
Dex:16
Con:18
Int:20
Wis:11
Cha:6

Race : Human (Mutant) 16 RP

Type
Human (Mutant) (0 RP)

Size
Medium (0 RP)

Base Speed
Normal Speed (0 RP)

Ability Score Modifiers
Weakness (–1 RP): Members of this race gain a +2 bonus to one physical ability score, a +2 bonus to one mental ability score, and a –4 penalty to any other ability score.

Languages
Standard (0 RP)

Defense Racial Traits
Healthy (2 RP): Mutants have a +2 racial bonus to Constitution; Benefit: Mutants gain a +4 bonus on Fortitude saves against disease and poison, including magical diseases.

Fast Healing (6 RP): Mutants regain 1 hit point each round. Except for where noted here, fast healing is just like natural healing. Fast healing does not restore hit points lost from starvation, thirst, or suffocation, nor does it allow a creature to regrow lost body parts. Fast healing continues to function (even at negative hit points) until a member of this race dies, at which point the effects of fast healing immediately end. Special: This trait can be taken multiple times. Each time fast healing is taken, its cost increases by 1 RP.

Feat and Skill Racial Traits

Quick Reactions (2 RP): Mutants receive Improved Initiative as a bonus feat.

Flexible Bonus Feat (4 RP): Mutants select one extra feat at 1st level.

Offense Racial Traits

Senses Racial Traits
Low-Light Vision (1 RP): Mutants can see twice as far as a race with normal vision in conditions of dim light.

Other Racial Traits
Multitalented (2 RP): Mutants choose two favored classes at 1st level and gain +1 hit points or +1 skill rank whenever they take a level in either of those classes

You have a mutagen that induces a 2nd person to pop out. Your mind is split.

You're an internal alchemist. That's based off of Chinese internal alchemy, and related to Ki.

So one thing you could do is say that you've made a breakthrough and can now access that Ki in a new way: Psionic ability.

This remind me a lot of dragon magazine #308 psions of the orient. It was actually pretty beast, essentially you reach a new path of enlightenment, yogi mysticism. You can check out yogi stuffs on wikipedia and the likes.

The last time I did anything related to psionics was a 4e game, and the way I handled it (which I found really fun to think up) was kind of complicated and required a bit of explanation.

Cosmologically, everything outside the planes of existence is eternal. All of the planes of existence are made up of a certain amount of Ether and the space outside of the planes is made of pure, infinite Ether. So, mortal souls exist in two places at once. One is the one inside of a mortal's body, and the other is the one out in space with all the eternal stuff. Both are made of Ether, but naturally the one out in space cannot be truly depleted of Ether because all the Ether out there is eternal. How this affects magic isn't really important for this explanation, but it basically involves using the caster's soul as a conduit for the transmission of Ether from the eternal source. How it affects psionics is much more germane to this discussion.

The setting's psionic organization referred to the Material Plane as the Phenomenal World (as it capable of changing, as opposed to the Eternal World). In truth, even a small amount of Ether is capable of causing significant changes in the Phenomenal World, but while all magic is a process of converting Ether into phenomena and projecting those phenomena into the Phenomenal World, most people aren't very good at forming phenomena with the Ether locally present in their souls. So, becoming able to harness ki or use psychic abilities is the process of learning to harmonize one's soul with the Phenomenal World, and the powers themselves are the process of distorting the Phenomenal World by distorting one's own soul.

Through this cosmology, your Internal Alchemist's Great Work would be harmonizing their soul with the Phenomenal World, and their entry into Psychic Warrior would be transmuting their own soul.

For added fun, try making up this cosmological philosophy as you advance as an alchemist. Keep notes on it, keep a journal of it. Spend whatever downtime you get writing treatises on the anatomy of the soul and its connection to a theoretically-unchanging cosmos. It doesn't even need to be true in-universe. It could just be how your character describes his abilities.

...you are a mutant.

You mutate.

Maybe you fight a psionic monster and that causes latent abilities to flair to life. Maybe you craft a one time potion that changes you. Maybe you implant a crystal that happens to be sentient and psionic.

I would actually suggest something else instead of psychic warrior. It's a wisdom focused class. Cryptic, Psion, and Tactician are intelligence based. Cryptic and Tactician also have d8 and 3/4 base attack like the Psychic Warrior.

Oh thank you! Wasn't aware of that. I was designated Tank by the parties orc barbarian.

So the Path of Survival appealed to me having to tank. I will delve into those classes.

I would say that Psychic Warrior would be a good tank. They are psionic fighters with good self buffs. It's just that the wisdom casting won't suit your character.

While not casting psionic classes, also consider Aegis and Soulknife. Both have a lot of combat potential.
