why were 4 Tian Xia races added into Season 6?
Just as non-standard race access is a hot topic on the messageboards, it's a common talking point during our meetings. It's tough to balance the lure of race boons for conventions against letting as many people as possible play the types of characters they want. Add to that the heated discussions about whether or not some non-standard races are overpowered and the concerns about the so-called "cantina effect." That's a lot to juggle when making a decision, but we decided that introducing a few new options would be best for the campaign.

A number of us are using the explanation that the Ruby Phoenix Tournament was about 3 years ago. During that time, we met the Tien races, and now they've had time to go through Pathfinder Society training. They are now becoming full-fledged agents about the time that we are finishing up with the war in the Worldwound, thus stemming the influx of field-commissioned Aasimar and Tieflings that had been joining.
This is totally "fan fiction" (ie, not official), but it works reasonably well as an explanation.

Amara Li has had the past year to build up relations with the Way of the Kirin and further solidify her holdings in Goka. Seems like she's had enough free time to help out with the efforts to reach Jormurdun. Time for the rest of us to head back out there then and see just what she's been working on, no?
