Rules Questions

You have fought in several battles, and each time felt the presence of the God of War guiding your sword-arm, making you ready to act at a moment's notice.

Benefits: You gain a +1 trait bonus on initiative checks, and if you are able to act during a surprise round, you may draw a weapon (but not a potion or magic item) as a free action during that round.

So does this mean that I am not longer caught flatfooted during a surprise round?

And can i draw my weapon at once, or do i need to wait for something?

Sovereign Court

You still have to wait for your initiative to act, thus if you get a total of a "1" and the bad guys all get higher than that, you will be considered flat-footed until you act, and you would not be able to perform any actions until that time.

ok so basically,

Flatfooded until i can act. Still better than being surprised lol

Sovereign Court

There are times you're not able to act in the surprise round, so if there's some sort of check (generally perception, sometimes sense motive) and your character fails, they will still fail to act in the surprise round and will not benefit from any of this trait.

This changes nothing from the normal rules for surprise rounds, and whether you get to act in them except being able to draw a weapon as a free action IF you get to go. If you don't notice the enemy, you don't get to go at all.

Oh well still gets me my +1 initiative :p couldn't really find a better trait out side of the combat category

Yeah, that always works, and being able to draw a weapon during a surprise round, and it not take up your entire action for the surprise round, is a very good thing.
