So, the other day after the estimated time for EE was announced it got me thinking, when and how will Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes be implemented throughout the coming months? I know this really has no direct effect on the game mechs and is not a high priority, but I just thought it would be nice to know what Goblinworks's plan is for implementing races throughout EE and OE. I was assuming that alpha would last longer and then in EE Humans, Elves, and Dwarves would be playable races with Gnomes coming later, but I can see that this may not be the case.

If we have a Destiny Twin account and our player race is not available at the start of EE can what I do on my twin be applied the other twin that I haven't rolled up yet, because I am waiting on a race to come out. Then when it does come out I just roll him out the gate and he has all the accumulated xp of the other toon?
or
Will there be either a Cash Shop Item or a feature of when a new race/class is launched I can swap to once it does come out?

I'm pretty sure we're supposed to expect to start Early Enrollment with access to Humans, Elves, and Dwarves.
... we decided that the minimum we could accept would be three PC races: humans, elves, and dwarves. Those races are the backbone of the Pathfinder world, and they need to be in the game before we start play.
What races will I be able to play?
The initially available race options will mirror the core races of the tabletop Pathfinder RPG: dwarves, elves, gnomes, half-elves, half-orcs, halflings, and humans. For Early Enrollment we'll have humans, elves and dwarves. Other races will be added over time.
On Race Changes:
You will be able to change any character created before a core race is added to that core race when it is added. You can make this change once per character. There will likely be a sunset provision which means that there will be a window for making the change; it will not be something you can wait 5 years and then do.
No non-core races will get a free change. The only change is, per character, one time, you can change from a race already in the game to a core race added to the game after you created that character. And that option will be sunset.

There's a bunch of different issues jumped together here; I'm going to do my best to untangle them.
1) Race
If your desired race is not available when you are making your character, you will be allowed a one-time race change per character when the race you want is released. So go ahead and make your character now, and switch when the race you want is available.
2) Class
There are no classes in PFO. As new roles are released, existing characters may choose to begin training for those roles just as new characters can. If you anticipate a role you want being released in the future, you may choose to bank some of your XP to spend on the new abilities, feats, and skills. You can also get a head start on accumulating some of the achievements that you may need in your new role. We do not anticipate anything like a "respec".
3) Destiny's Twin
The latest info I've seen is that DT will probably not be available on day 1 of EE. If it is not, then shared XP will be retroactive once DT is implemented. So you can create one character now and start earning XP, and then X months down the road when DT is released, you'll be able to create a new character, make him your main's twin, and start with X months of XP already banked.
Does that answer all of your questions?

The plan is to have humans, elves and dwarves in the game at the launch of EE. I have seen a lot coming out of art lately related to adding dwarves and elves, so my guess is that we are still on track for it.

Awesome, this was what I was interested in hearing! Glad to hear that I may be able to gear up my ragged dwarf and go plunder some goblin settlements for EE!
