What is the ruling in having non-Golarion languages? I ask because I came up with a rather ridiculous character idea of a someone who hails from Earth but ended up in a Golarion after being transferred there somehow via Leng. He'd be a gunslinger, an American soldier of the Great War currently raging in Europe. Despite this he'd abide by all rules of PFS and beyond roleplaying things he'd get nothing special, but I'm not so sure about having a language that is extremely alien to Golarion, ie English.

You can only have a language that's been published in a legal source. If Rasputin Must Die lists English, you could pick it from there.
I know the only Earth languages in the entire AP is Russian, Polish, Czech, Greek, and a few extinct languages.
Guess he'll have to be a Russian soldier with a suspicious American accent! :v

Actually, languages are still subject to the same Additional Resources restrictions as any other rules element, and the entry Rasputin Must Die only covers equipment and the oracle mystery, so none of the languages are legal options in PFS.
Well that really sucks. I don't see why it wouldn't it be an option since I'm willingly putting a rank in linguistics to get a language that no one on golarion speaks (some would call that wasting a skill point but bleh), but oh well.

I cant speak for anyone else, but personally, I wouldnt treat your character knowing English any different than someone who says their character made up their own language or that they are fluent in Pig Latin. Feel free to insist you speak it and run with that background if you want. The most anyone can do is look at you funny en-whay ou-yay alk-tay unny-fay. As long as it isnt providing you with any sort of mechanical benefit, just go for it. ;)

I'm still hoping that one of these days we'll see "Pathfinder Hand Sign" as a legitimate language we can take in PFS for all of those "need to communicate silently/secretly (and we have no one in the party with Message)" moments.
I believe that was already covered by a FAQ for the Oracle's deaf curse, "Sign Language" is a valid language to take from Linguistics.

The only mechanical benefit I can see with it is being able to loudly curse at people in a completely alien tongue. Of course, then they cast comprehend languages. And then I was in deep trouble.

Yes, but thats really just a more limited version of "I cure at them in my made up gibberish language." They dont know what it means. In this case it would actually be comprehend languageable, but the chances of an NPC doing that to you are probably pretty slim.

I have a character that speaks "Gnomish". In reality, he is just making noises like Beaker from the Muppets. What can I say, he is more than a little touched in the head and that is what Gnomes sound like to him :)

Wait, you can spend prestige points on mounts, right? I just want to spend it just so I can say that to my trusty horse who hails from the Arizona plains.

Well, that could be interpreted as "you don't really speak English and your character really isn't from Earth, it's just literal gooblydook". Don't take that as me being accusatory, mind you, cause you're right: it is the only way I'm pretty much gonna be able to justify having what I'm fully aware is a high level of ridiculousness in PFS with this character's concept. I guess I just liked Rasputin Must Die!'s concept way too much! :P
