OP Character Respec?

If you play a character in OP and then decide you don't like it, will there be the opportunity to apply the experience to a new character/deck, similar to the way you can in PFS before 2nd level?

I assume this will be answered in the forthcoming OP guide, but figured I'd ask while we're waiting...

Grand Lodge

Good question. And up to what point could we do that?

I'm not at all with how PFS for the RPG works, but I think one big difference here will be that you can play in your own home (if you have the Base Set of course). So if you don't like a character, you can always run a new character at home to "catch up".

I'm not really commenting on your original question of whether they will grant a free "respec" but just saying there seems to already be some recourse for discovering you don't like a character.

Well, since your character is recorded in PFSRPG and it looks like it will be for PFSACG, you don't have the same freedoms for changing things as you do when you're running a campaign with your local group ... I mean I've had to go to the DM and ask if I could change some things on my character because I didn't like how the mechanic worked or I misunderstood.

But with PFS/OP, it's a bit more rigid.

And with the new set and new rules and new characters (essentially), what happens if you don't like the class card option you picked and would like to switch it out with another. Can we? I'd hate to have to have someone start over in OP because of that.

Related to this, what happens if someone wants to join OP mid-season, already knows how to play, and maybe even has been playing along from home?

I think with the class decks coming in midway will work with little difficulty, as you have to worry less about duplicate cards that should be limited to one or two per group (assuming no duplicate classes).

Grand Lodge

True but it depends on the PFS rules (which we are anxiously awaiting for ...)

Yeah, sometimes "Soon!" just doesn't come soon enough. PFS blog posts usually come out on Mondays, so maybe we'll get the guide then? Or maybe Wednesday for an ACG blog? Or maybe it will just come out of nowhere?!

Personally, I don't count on there being an ability to transfer rewards between characters in the PACG OP. Compared to a PFS RPG scenario (said to take about 4 hours), an ACG scenario can be finished in a fourth of that time. If you play one or two scenarios with a card game character that you decide you don't really like, it's not as big of a deal as one or two scenarios with an RPG character. But that's just my opinion and we'll see how it plays out when the guide is released. Soon!?

PFS replays are much more worrisome because spoilers in PFS play makes the scenarios incredibly boring (in the sense that you can just minimax the scenario).

PFSACG replays are going to be less worrisome in that regard, so I think there's less of an issue with respecs, since you can just replay scenarios until you catch up.

That being said, I don't know whether or not PFSACG replays are allowed.
