Two weapon warpriest

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Looking for some clarification here. The warpriest sacred weapons applies to the weapon.

"Sacred Weapon (Su): Weapons wielded by a warpriest
are charged with the power of his faith. In addition to the
favored weapon of his deity, the warpriest can designate
a weapon as a sacred weapon by selecting that weapon
with the Weapon Focus feat (if he has multiple Weapon
Focus feats, this ability applies to all of them). Whenever
the warpriest is wielding a sacred weapon, he treats his
warpriest level as his base attack bonus for attacks made
with that weapon, stacking with any base attack bonus
from other classes or racial Hit Dice."

Would weilding two starknifes grant the sacred weapon ability to both or just one?

At the moment, yes. I believe that ability is going to be changed significantly when the warpriest actually comes out next month, though.

Grand Lodge

I figure they'll change this in one way or another. Hopefully they'll put a little bit more clarification in there too.

Scarab Sages

The ability is not going to change except for no full BAB on sacred weapons. The scaling damage is going to stay. As for using TWF, if you have weapon focus in starknife, does it keep working on off-hand attacks?

It does. So you would apply the sacred weapon damage die on both starknives.

However, when you are using the later ability to enchant the sacred weapon, it would only apply to one of them.

Liberty's Edge

The way Sacred Weapon is written right now, you can enhance both of your weapons, but you can't start to enhance them in the same round.

Round 1: enhance Wpn #1, expend 1 rd of duration.
Round 2: enhance Wpn #2, maintain #1, expend 2 rds of duration.
Round 3: maintain both Wpns, expend 2 rds of duration.

Repeat step 3 for as many rounds as you can maintain the enhancement effect.

I haven't read the updated ability to see if that's changed at all.

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the help guys. It makes more sense to me now.

Grand Lodge

I don't think however you're going to be able to do the sacred enchantment on both weapons though. Certainly not two for the price of one.

Liberty's Edge

As of right now it's a swift action to activate, and not an action to maintain. There is no limitation on how many Sacred Weapons you can activate, just that if it leaves your possession it loses the extra enhancement effects.

So duel-wielding Sacred Weapons, and enhancing them both, is totally doable, as of the current playtest.

But, you are correct in your last point. It's not "two for the price of one". Look at my math again from earlier.

Grand Lodge

The other thing is that without full BAB, you'd want to revisit whether you want the to-hit penalties of two weapon fighting, especially if your off weapon isn't a light one.

Liberty's Edge

Coincidentally I was just discussing this last night after our PFS session.

My Thunder and Fang Warpriest hits like a truck right now (at level 5, buffed, I was something like +14/+14 to-hit, and dealt 40-something damage). Losing 2 BAB will put him more in line with what a melee character at that level should be at.

I don't consider it a nerf, I figure it a balancing act.
