Skald, unable to Perform?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Is the Skald able to use the Perform skill, when under the effects of Raging Song?

Relevant text:

Raging Song wrote:

You count as your own ally. Perform is a charisma based skill.

So, am I missing something?

Grand Lodge

Was there something omitted?

No he can't use the Perform skill, it's a Charisma based skill.

You do not count yourself as an ally. Allies are other people. You are you.

Ally: Do you count as your own ally?

You count as your own ally unless otherwise stated or if doing so would make no sense or be impossible. Thus, "your allies" almost always means the same as "you and your allies."

I swear there was a Developer comment on this.

I pretty sure the pre-revised version had a note about the Skald himself being an exception.

I mean, the "Raging Song (Su): A skald is trained to use the Perform
skill to inspire allies (including himself, if so desired) to
feats of strength and ferocity."
part in the beginning at least suggests otherwise.

Grand Lodge

Nobody knows of any Dev comments on this one?

I mean, I am not sure if they even cast spells.

Correct he coyld not use the perform skill but most performances don't require it so it won't matter moat of the time.

Grand Lodge

Yes, but then he could not use the Perform skill to use Raging Song.

See above quote.

From the Advanced Class Guide Playtest,

- The Skald -can- still cast spells and use skills while using Raging song. The text that exempted the skald from the restrictions was dropped accidentally, but should be there.

Grand Lodge

Do you have links to those specific quotes?

I just want to be sure to have them on hand.

Heres one.

It was accidentally omitted from the 2nd playtest document.

Joyd summarized it well.

I accidentally got rid of my 1st playtest document so if you have that it'll be an easier time.

Grand Lodge

I see.

Very helpful, thank you.

Hopefully, this will be quite clear when the ACG is released.
