How do I buy a wand for 2 PP?

I have seen listed in many places here that you should use your first two PP to purchase a wand, probably of healing.

On board, makes sense, would love to. However, I don't see how I can do this until I reach 9 Fame. Wands are not on the always available list, and their cost limits their access until I hit 9 fame (1500g purchase limit).

What am I missing that allows me to purchase a level 1 wand for 2 PP with only 2 Fame to my name?

The item you acquire via prestiege is not limited by fame.

No, the ability to acquire a free item with prestiege at level 1 is intended and predates the 0gp value language in the guide.

Gaining items with prestige represents your faction looking out for you. You are cashing in that favor you did for them by asking for a wand.

Fame is a measure of how respected you are, both in the Society and in the eyes of the public. A certain level of respect is required to buy more expensive and rare items.

The 2 PP covers items up to 750gp, which is what your faction is willing to spend on you to "not die" and continue to fulfill their goals. So any fully charged 1st level wand, a potion of cure serious wounds (or almost any other potion), a scroll of cure critical wounds, etc. is obtainable, and all good choices to survive the first few levels until you have the fame to acquire more powerful items on your own, or the prestige for a raise dead!
