I would like to alter the racial traits of the Centaur to make it a little more balanced with the other races.
Ability Score Racial Traits: Flexible +2 Str, +2 Wis) (2 RP)
Advanced Strength (+2) (4 RP)
Advanced Dexterity (+2) (4 RP)
Advanced Constitution (+2) (4 RP)
Type: Monstrous humanoid (2 RP)
Size: Large (7 RP)
Base Speed: Normal (0 RP) (plus Fast (+10 feet)
Languages: Standard (0 RP)
Defense Racial Traits
Natural Armor: Centaurs have tough skin, granting them a +2 natural armor bonus. (2 RP)
Movement Racial Traits
Fast (+10 feet) (1 RP)
Senses Racial Traits
Darkvision: Centaurs have darkvision and so can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
Other Racial Traits
Quadruped Centaurs have four legs (2 RP.)
Obviously I can't drop the size, type, or quadruped traits (and in essence can't drop darkvision)
I think they might have messed up by giving it both Quadruped and Fast traits, because Quadruped inherently grants +10ft. base speed. So Fast is unnecessary.
I was thinking of dropping the 3 advanced ability score traits and replacing the flexible AS trait with the Weakness trait (+2 CON, +2 WIS, -4 CHA) because Centaurs are very rare in my world and usually keep to themselves without ever really having much societal contact.
That would bring the RP down to 12...I can take off natural armor to bring it down to 10 RP.
Any ideas on how to lower the RP even more?
Another thing I wanted to bring up was whether I should give it a trait that allows centaurs to be treated as always mounted. or if I should just houserule it.
EDIT: what about making a trait that uses acrobatics in place of ride checks? cuz a centaur needing to know how to ride an animal is just silly...

well actually making it medium and dropping all the advanced ability score traits should cover it. drop the fast speed and grant them powerful build(agreed to be about 4 rp). They will be able to wield weapons as a medium creature still but the stats are less ridiculous. of course the whole rp system is flawed in the first place.

Just looked up the length of a horse, basically 5 feet, so it actually could very well be medium (why are horses large?? they aren't 10 ft. long) Alright so that drops 7 RP, leaving only 3 left.
So should I go with Advanced ability scores or Flexible ability scores, or keep them the same?so (+2 str/dex/con, +4 int(or wis), -2 cha) or (+2 str, +2 con)?

Also I could change its type to Humanoid (tauric) which would take off 2 more RP
EDIT: I counted up the RP for humans, which is 9 so, given the fact that this IS supposed to be a magical creature still so it should have a bit more RP than the core races, I think I can set the limit at 15, so with only 6 RP after all of these changes I have 6 to spend
(I will be going with the Advanced ability score set)

Horses weigh on average 1100 lbs, the large size lower border is 500 lbs. They're definitely large.

3 These values are typical for creatures of the indicated size. Some exceptions exist.
Honestly a horse BARELY at LARGEST exceed 5 feet in length, and comes nowhere NEAR 10 ft. in width (I know it goes off on the large(long) category, but still its like 1-2 feet wide) Size categories mainly go off of its actual size...not its weight, its just saying that generally things that are that big weigh that much.

Aren't centaurs actually smaller than horses...in that they usually look humans in the eye, while a horse towers over most humans...I remember looking a small horse (quarter horse) almost in the eye, and the farmer commented that I was a big dude...6'4".
-Also since centaurs are always chasing human women, how big can they be, really?

Humans aren't 5x5 feet, yet we are medium size. The space you occupy isn't the minimum space you would take up. It's the space you move around, fight in, and generally need for your personal bubble. Horses are notably bigger than people, thus they are large.
Right, forgot about that part. that makes sense. But I was thinking about it more and decided I would make my centaurs smaller. basically like the upper half of a dwarf combined with the body of a pony (not literally just as a visual reference of its size)

Centuars receive the Fast trait so that their speed is equivalent to actual horses - 50ft. Your Centuar has only a 40ft speed.
Thats what I was thinking, but I still wanted to slow them down a bit. 40ft speed should be plenty, especially going along with the idea of shrinking them some

I think Large, Four Legs, and Fast works. Add Undersized Weapons and reduce their reach to that of a Medium creature, and you should be good. +2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma fits. This would make a strong race, but one with some heavy drawbacks. They'll be awesome in a open area, but suffer mobility issues in a dungeon and definitely have some social issues.
