Cheers all
Last session 1 of my PC's bought his son (an accident on a brothel in the abyss), a half fiend demon/human.
He wanted to research a ritual to remove the half fiend part, so his son would be fully human.
This is what I came up with (party is lv 13)
The subject must be placed on an alter of a true neutral deity.
The subject must hereafter be hit by a maximized merciful enervation OR a merciful energydrain.
Then 9 casters of different alignment (yes, all 9 alignments must be present) positioned in a circle around the subject simultaneously cast atonement.
Roll 1D10. Each atonement caster is assigned a number (1 being at true north, then going clockwise, 0 being the subject). The caster with the roled number decides if the result grants 100% base creature, 100% template (in this case demon) or fail (subject remain as is...)
Have any1 been in the same situation, how did you handle it?
What do you feel about my pollution?
And ofc, if you want, feel free to steal the idea...

... Reincarnate Spell.
... Forced Reincarnation Hex.
... Clone Spell.
These should be your mechanical spell guides for changing a persons race. One is provided by neutral Druids, the other by potentially evil (or good, or neutral) witches as a Grand Hex.
The method of death in the first one is important as a Death effect cannot be used to kill the target. I might suggest a ritual not for the death or the spell, but around the return. A ritual to gain the favour of the God/Philosophy/Demon that you wish to entreat with, this is to increase the percentage roll to improve the chances of getting 100% (GM Decides), maybe each success adds 10%. This could be sacrifices (Of creatures/materials/plants the PC's captured), A complex display of ritual combat (Party draws each others blood in "Battle"), a simple prayer circle with everyone holding hands, or casting particular spells at a focus.
The witch one could be interesting where the party needs to FIND a grand witch (or hag), fulfill favors (Maybe remove the OTHER grand witch that refuses to step down so the ally witch can assume coven control), and then all of the rituals a witch might need to improve the odds of getting 100% (potentially a classic disney "Evil Bargain" style gambit for the PC's).
Clone is a lot less "religious" and a lot more mechanical. Wizard takes a body part, purges the unwanted parts through expensive processes, then clones, and then kills the original. I would maybe have him require rare (extraplanar?) materials for his research, or specific information that only a God/Herald/Demon could impart to him.

Conversely, I'd start with polymorph, bump it to level 7 or 8, require a long casting, change the duration to instantaneous, and limit it to removing templates
a long and complicated ritual is advised when your trying to add power to a character, but you shouldn't make the players jump through hoops to weaken a willing creature.
if you feel that the player would prefer to jump through a hoop or two to feel he did something to help his child, then require a component that is related to either the template to be removed (life blood of a greater succubus) or an anathema component (blood of an angel willingly given).
in short, keep it simple.
simplest solution: limited wish, wish, or miracle.
plot hooks: the spell only cleanses the fiendish blood from him, the spiritual taint still exists and requires an atonement, and he will be a prime target for corruption attempts in the future because the fiends still sense the potential for evil from him.

No sir, I don't like it.
Having a lot of different alignments at the table seems both silly and mechanically weird to me. I mean ripping a soul in half and keeping the person alive is a big deal, but why do you have to have all the extraneous alignment clerics involved? The kid doesn't need "evil" to infuse his spirit with the balance found in mortals, he's already dosed-up on evil just fine no matter how many negative levels you tag him with. And it just feels "gimmicky".
That's a subjective judgement, of course, but you asked.
Also everything Fetteraga said.
I mean, all the Evil attacks and abilities might be annoying, but the immunities and stat increases are always nice no matter who you are. You're DOWNGRADING someone for non-game reasons. Maybe it is RP-riffic for the PC, but what about everyone else in the party? "Oh boy, we get to go along and spend a bunch of time and effort and money recruiting/hiring/extorting a bunch of clerics to cast a complicated ritual that nets us no gain. Whee!"

I think the party would have more fun and plausible if they had to go on an adventure to find a powerful witch, a grand cleric, or an artifact to cleanse his son.
A fiend's power and identity transcends mere flesh and bone. A fiendish taint, likewise, infects the soul. So merely putting him in a different body or polymorphing him will do nothing.
