I saw an article the other day about Ghost Jobs. These are jobs a company might advertise, but have no intention of hiring to fill. They apparently do it for a variety of reasons: pad numbers, collect and sell information, create a pool of potential candidates. Some states reported potentially up to 30% of jobs as ghost jobs.
Gee, thanks Universe. That's just the sort of thing I needed to hear as I start job hunting again.

Ugh...Another slow start to a slow day. Yup. I'm definitely in shiftless layabout mode.
And it doesn't help that we have absolutely no plans for Christmas other than the giving of gifts. We're not going anywhere. We're not having anyone over. We're not planning any special meals. At best, I may start my annual watch of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Part of the reason for this is the sickness working it's way through our house. Another part is my brother and his family had plans that took them out of town (Seriously, what kind of a-hole friend's kid plans a wedding this close to Christmas?), and they won't be back until tomorrow.

A show I'm watching on YouTube played this Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The one where they announce the next desperation move of bringing back Chris Evans as Steve Rogers (Probably as Captain Hydra. Thanks Spencer, you commie douchebag).
Overall, I was underwhelmed. Granted There really wasn't much to the teaser.

Ye gods!
I heard from the parent of a scout that he’s almost done with all his Eagle requirements. I just need his letters of recommendation and then they need to get all his paperwork downtown to the SHAC headquarters.
If he makes it, I think that will be either the seventh or eighth scout in the troop to hit Eagle since last April.

For someone, anyway. Mine will probably be mid to annoying. Perhaps horrifically so.
It's supposed to be cloudy, but warm, all day. So not too horrid on the weather front. I've got at least two places to go today, however. That's where the unpleasantness will come in to play. I know I've got to make a run over to the grocery store. Plus I'll probably end up going over to Walmart to get some last minute, additional stocking stuffers.

At the moment, we've only got a few things for each kid's stocking. They'll each get a plastic candy cane filled with M&Ms. The boy will also get a new knife, which'll serve him well on his summer High Adventure trip. The girl will get two Choose Your Own Adventure books.
I don't think that's enough, however. Hence the potential trip to Walmart. And maybe one or two other stores in the vicinity, depending on traffic and crowds.

Speaking of gifts....
After everyone else was in bed last night, I remembered the gift the wife and I got for the daughter for Christmas this year - a new, larger easel. And some larger canvases to go with it. The canvases are, too oddly shaped to wrap, but I did wrap the easel. It is now ensconced under the tree.

Now I’ve got to figure out something for lunch. Might wait until the wife gets home. She must be feeling a little better, because she got a shower and willingly left the house. She wanted to run over to CVS. Not sure what for, but she said she’d pick up something for the daughter’s stocking so that’s one less thing I have to worry about.

NOW my Christmas shopping should be done.
Went to Academy to see about a long handled spork for the boy. Turned around and walked right out. Every one of the check out lines had 12-15 people in it. Screw that.
So then I popped into Kroger (the other place I was going) and was able to find a few more stock stuffers for each kid. And because my wife had me getting dog treats anyway, I bought a new Christmas chew toy for the beast.

I got some decent loot. A new zombie-themed t-shirt and a new flannel shirt from the daughter. A sonic cleaner for my mouthguard from the wife. And a 4K copy of the great fantasy movie Willow from the boy.
I also got a lame cup from the in-laws. That'll probably just go right back in it's box. Then I'll either stick it up on some top shelf of a kitchen cabinet, or into a plastic container (currently located in the attic) for other unwanted and useless kitchen items).

Other than that, I don't have anything actually planned for today. My younger brother and his family are back in town, but we didn't make any plans with them. We used to, but ever since the Universe decided to consistently visit illness on one or both houses every Christmas, we kind of stopped doing it.
