Determination Armor Enchant.

Rules Questions

I'v been looking into getting the determination armor enchant on my armor, and been wondering about when the actual enchant activates in regards to prone.

"A shield or armor with the determination special ability provides the ability to fight on even in the face of seemingly impossible odds. Once per day, when the owner reaches 0 or fewer hit points, the item automatically provides a breath of life spell."

Does the breath of life activate when im standing and about to fall prone, or is it after i'v already fallen prone? I couldent find anything specific in the rules in regards to this and would very much like to know when people think it activates. Since im paying 30 k for it, this clarification could determine whether i get it.

Ask your GM, but I imagine it's not different from having your cleric buddy cast BoL on you.

Compare the wording with something like the rogue's Defensive Roll talent.

This sort of wording is used when the feat or ability interrupts the processes of being reduced to 0 or fewer hit points. Without it, you're most likely supposed to complete the process of being reduced to 0 or fewer HP and THEN the feat or ability kicks in.

It's still possible that BoL kicks in before you fall unconscious, but it's impossible to tell for sure.

Rules as written: Without looking for additional threads which may clean this up, I'd go with inconclusive and leave it up to GM adjudication.
Rules as intended: As soon as you are reduced to 0 hit points, the breath of life activates as an immediate action.

Just my 2 cp.
