weird resolving timing question

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

had something happen tonight where the 3 cards left in the location was dr. habe, ambush, and a snake, we encountered ambush, and failed the check, so that told us to go search for a monster and encounter it, subtract 1 from each die rolled, nothing on it about being banished, so it seemed like it would shuffle back in after resolving but dr. habe, the only monster, has no check, he says to examine the deck until you find a bane, if there are no banes he is defeated and you may immediately try and close the location, my question is officially, how would this resolve, the way I read it and did it, was you encounter the ambush, fail it, find and encounter dr habe, the ambush still out of the deck because it hasn't finished resolving yet, so there is no bane for dr habe, so he banishes and then you try and close the location, succeed at closing the location and then the snake and ambush get banished with the close, is that how it would actually work? the only other way it would appear to work is infinite loop of encountering ambush and dr habe until you pass the ambush check?

Ambush has an update. It is banished no matter what happens.
