flail snail armor

Homebrew and House Rules

hello,

recently my party defeated a flail snail, and had enough foresight and luck to successfully extract the corpse from the shell. one player is talking about making armor out of it.

my question is, what would be the properties of said armor? would it duplicate the snail's abilities exactly, or would it lose something in the process, and end up simple possessing the 'reflective' ability (even though that is usually reserved for shields)?

would the magic warping be an ongoing 80%, or a 'once per day'?

my inclination is to have the armor retain the precise abilities of the shell. i look forward to the cleric trying to buff the fighter only to have the spell go awry.

You could make it a Specific armor. Equal to say +2 scale male greater spell resistance armor. X time per day can use spell turning. Maybe have a couple of the flail hanging off it granting extra attacks of opportunity with the flails.

The Exchange

Such a mucus-oriented foe would seem like a natural candidate for producing armor with the slick quality (you know, bonus to Escape Artist.) I'd avoid giving the armor a continuous 'magic warping' ability - that's pretty powerful stuff unless we're talking Level 15+ play - but you could grant a discount on crafting the armor with SR or, as you say, emulate the shield ability.

I'd treat it as dragonhide, except instead of getting discounts to energy resistance, it gives discounts to spell resistance.
