A situation turned up in our final game yesterday.
Heroes and villains have bards, both do inspire courage for their team. But can a bard counter an enemy performance with his own akin to countersong or counterspelling? Since several bardic performances do not require saving throws, they're not normally eligible for countersong.
Same general question for Dirge of Doom vs Inspire Courage who look like natural opposites.

Cranky, you answered it yourself: Countersong specifically mentions that it doesn't work against effects that don't allow saving throw...
It also affects only magical attack, so countering an opposite Inspire courage would not work since it is not a magical attack...
Don't think couterspelling would also work since BP are not spells....

That's how we ruled it, it doesn't counter.
But *should* a performance be able to counter another performance? We had a situation where multiple bards on both sides were involved. A silence spell automatically cancels audible performances, but should it be the only way?
It could be a good reason to make opposed Performance checks like a battle of the bands.
