I thought that a character with spider climb was allowed to move freely through an area affected by a web spell. However this does not show up in the crb or the srd.
Is there errata or a feat or something or Was this a 2e thing or was this something for a video game?
Are there other spells like this that seem like they should have a unique and complimentary effect but don't?

I think it's because it's implied since some items that only use spider climb in the creation give both abilities spider climb and freedom from webs. There doesn't seem to be a mechanic in the rules for it, but eh, it makes sense. Plus, it was also in 3.x.
Enlarge person is like that. It makes you large, but you only get half the bonuses from it. Never did like that. Easy fix, make your character 8ft tall. If he gets enlarged cast on him, he goes over 8ft which is the limit for a medium creature, so you get the full benefit of being large.
I once made an 8ft character who became a dragonborn. It states that the pc gets a couple inches taller, and that immediately makes him no longer medium. Yes it's shenanigans, but eh, what can ye do. ;)
