Advice for downloading PDFs on iPhone with Goodreader?

Customer Service

Once I got Goodreader I've been able to download a couple PDFs on my iPhone no problem, but last night I bought the Inner Sea World Guide and I'm having no luck.

I clicked on the link, wait 10 seconds for it to personalize, click again, and nothing happens. I clicked on the "having trouble downloading this file" link and it goes to a white screen with the name of the PDF, the "Open in Goodreader" link at the top, and says "Zero Bytes". At that point nothing happens, the Zero Bytes never changes, and the "Open in Goodreader" link does nothing.

Maybe I should take this to customer service, but before I did I wanted to see if anyone had experienced this or had any ideas. Thanks!

I would try downloading it outside of the app (per this FAQ) and see if you still have the problem. Also moving this to the Customer Service forum.

This does not solve your issue, but is a work-around.

What I do is place everything I want in Goodreader on my NAS and then set up a sync relationship between Goodreader and my NAS. Works like a charm and I do not have to be afraid that I miss a file on my iPad that I have available on my iPad.

If I recall correctly, Goodreader can also sync with online services such as Dropbox, so for those without their own NAS that may be a workable alternative.

The Inner Sea World Guide is probably the biggest file here, and i devices just struggle to pull it down. Best plan is the download it on your desktop, then transfer it over whilst syncing your phone to iTunes.

I usually import my Paizo PDFs through Goodreader's import file while in iTunes with no trouble on my iPad and my older iPhone (when I had one). Only negative is you have to be on your PC to do it.

Inner Sea World Guide is just a huge file. I don't ever bother downloading any of the One File per Chapter options for any Paizo PDF - except that one. The only device I ever look at PDFs on that can handle the full Inner Sea World Guide PDF with the full art is my quad core, liquid cooled, OC'd to 4.6 GHz gaming-grade desktop.

No mobile device is really up to the task of the full ISWG file.

Instead of clicking on the 'having trouble' link, click on the file link itself again. Then just have patience. I dl'd the Slumbering Tsar file like that to my iPad mini and that file is at least as big, if not bigger than the ISWG. When I click the file link for the last time, I get the option to either follow the link or download, and I click download at that point.
