i have an air mage level 8 and he has the cyclone ability.
my question is related to using this ability against flyers.
it says it creates a turbulent wind and flyers in it or entering it need to make a fly check, but there is no dc listed,and the fly skill does not have turbulent winds as one of the wind speeds. so what is the wind speed and what is the bace dc for fly checks vs. this ability.

I am not 100% percent sure on this either. From what I can tell though, the wind speeds has effects greater than a tornado. For instance, no ranged attack can go through a tornado. Cyclone also stops all ranged attacks. Additionally, the strength DC to move in the vortex is greater than any wind speed and it can check and size creature.
A tornado can check a huge sized creature at most. Cyclone checks any creature who enters the vortex.
The strength check to move in natural winds is equal to 10
"Checked Size: Creatures of this size or smaller are unable to move forward against the force of the wind unless they succeed on a DC 10 Strength check (if on the ground) or a DC 20 Fly skill check if airborne."
However the DC for any level of this spell is at least a strength check of 18 (10 + caster level).
It all seems very odd. The vortex is enough to stop a colossal creature in it's tracks (if they role bad) even though colossal creature could walk through a tornado like nothing is even happening.
I would say apply a fly penalty equal to the strength check to flying creatures and then have them role as if it was natural winds. If they succeed the role they should have to make another fly check to move in the winds.

Any ranged attack passing through this vortex automatically misses. Any flying creature moving through the vortex must make a Fly skill check or immediately fall from the sky, taking falling damage (the creature cannot make a Fly check to reduce or negate this damage). Creatures on the ground cannot pass through the vortex without first making a Strength check. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + your caster level.
I assume the last line applies to all the Check DCs.
