We start with a basic Stone Giant, CR 8. We reduce its HD by 3; according to the Bestiary, that would drop it towards CR 6. Then we apply the Young Creature template, and end up with something that should be CR 5.
But with an AC breaching 20, 60-ish HP, and an attack at +12 for 1d10+9, this thing looks to be stronger (if smaller) than its CR-compatriot the Troll. I feel like I should beef it up to CR 6, but I'd like some peer-opinions. I can post a statblock if you want more details.
Thanks in advance...

Well, looking at Table: Monster Statistics by CR:
CR 5 averages are
55 HP, AC 18, High attack +10, High damage 20.
CR 6:
70 HP, AC 19, High attack +12, High damage 25.
So, if you're attacking at +12/+7 for 1d10+9, AC 20 and 60 HP, I would say you're probably more in the CR 6 territory rather than the CR 5 territory. The HP is slightly lower but the AC is slightly higher, the hit is spot on and "average damage" is a bit high: 14.5 per attack for 2 attacks = 29 verses a target of 25.
What kind of PCs are you throwing it against, and are you sending it in alone or with friends?

Not sure about the PC's yet; doing some prepwork for a future adventure. It'll be joined by a few more Stone Giants. I totally forgot about that table; shoulda checket that out first - thanks for the reminder! And for the reply. Upping to CR 6. Just goes to show that templates aren't all that accurate at all times I guess...
