Okay thank you sir.

Dark Archive

Also what does elfmarked do? You have it listed as a racial bonus for the Laos but I see no other mention of it.

Dark Archive

Sorry. Initially, that was a feat, but than I changed it to trait and forgot to include it. The text should go like this:

Elfmarked:Legends say that the people of La have done a great service to Eldarim in the past, so they gave them the gift
of being Elfmarked. Laos gain Elfmarked as bonus trait. This replaces Sturdy.

Elfmarked

One of your ancestors has done a great service to the elves and rewarded with a mark of their friendship, which passed on to his descendants.

Benefit: You gain Racial Heritage (Elf) as a bonus feat. In addition to that, you gain +2 to Will Saves and +2 to Perception.

Dark Archive

Guys, I'm gonna give it till Monday. If we don't get enough players till then, I'm gonna try something else. Perhaps a published adventure set in my world and with my rules, or an adventure path. If that happens, you can use the characters that you're creating for this game.

Alrighty. I like the ruleset you've made. It's fun to get into a system where you don't know all the best combos so you can experiment, and it's helpful here to at least know the foundation is in PF rules.

Plus I love all the feats. I'm drunk on feats over here!

I dunno if they've posted over in this thread yet (been on mobile only for the past day so I dont see links between aliases) but someone has been PMing me about a shared backstory. We are going to both be borderlanders, brothers. Him a wildlander and I a lycan. Should be really cool.

Dark Archive

That's great. I love when the characters are connected in some way.

Makes a lot of sense too. Wolf Pack!

Oh yeah it was DivineShadow. Didnt recognize the alias at first.

Dark Archive

Lol yep sorry Darius was my most frequent post for awhile so he was set as my default and never changed back. Sorry Tenro. Also I will pm a few people and see if they might be interested.

Lets see we have.

Wolf brothers Myself and Tenro wildlanders

Darkone- shadarim assassin

Goretech-????

Coel-????

White Dove-????

Stiehl9s-???

If any of you are still interested and would post some sort of concept idea it would be appreciated.

@Nightflier where's DH when we need him?

Dark Archive

I don't know if he still plays. For some reason ] can't access private messages on my work PC. Could someone contact our old gaming comrades from Midnight? Perhaps they would be interested in this endeavor :-)

Dark Archive

Also any chance you could reveal the wolfbrother feat tree to us?

And one last thing im guessing elfmarked is a history trait yes? Does the Laos racial granting of it by pass the one history boon restriction?

Dark Archive

On it.

Dark Archive

I'm gonna review the traits section and remove the type-limit, so that you can take 2 traits of any kind.

Dark Archive

Oh, and I'll post Wolfbrother tonight.

Dark Archive

Okay neat. Also I hit up DH his last post was yesterday so we may be in luck.

Dark Archive

Okay, here are Wolfbrother feats so far (there will probably be more feats and even class talents, but that's in the future and reserved for higher levels):

Wolfbond

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother, Wildlander Animal Companion (wolf) talent, 4th level
Benefit: Your animal companion is larger and sturdier than normaly, about twice the size of normal wolf, and uses dire wolf base stats.

Wolfbrother

Prerequisites: Latent Wolfbrother trait
Benefit: A wolfbrother adds +4 to all Wild Empathy checks made with wolves.
This bonus increases to +8 at 12th level.

Wolfspeech

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother feat, 2nd level.
Benefit: A wolfbrother gains the at-will ability to speak with wolves as per Speak with animals spell. At 5th level he can do so telepathically, as long as the wolf is in his line of sight. At 8th level his range extends to his ECL x 5 miles.

Wolf Mentor

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother, Wolfspeach, 8th level
Benefit: You have attracked the attention of an old spirit wolf, perhaps a child of Amorak the Father-Wolf, or some wise old alpha who lived for a long time and trained many a puppy. While meditating, you can reach your mentor and aska question of him. This ability works like Commune with nature spell and can be used once per day.

Wolf Pack

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother, Wolfspeach, Wolf Mentor, 11th level
Benefit: You can summon 2d6 ghost wolves to your aid. They stay with you until your need ends or the sun rises, whichever comes first.

Wolf’s Senses

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother feat, 2nd level.
Benefit: Your sense of smell becomes heightened. You gain Scent as special ability.

Wolf’s Senses – Emotions

Prerequisites: Wolfbrother, Wolf’s Senses, 8th level
Benefit: The wolfbrother's sensitivity to the scent of humans can tell him something about the emotions of people near him. This provides a +4 competence bonus on Sense Motive checks.

Wolf’s Senses – Perception

The wolfbrother’s eyesight and hearing become almost supernaturaly sharp.
Prerequisites: Wolfbrother, Wolf’s Senses, 3rd level
Benefit: The wolfbrother gains a +4 competence bonus to Perception.

Dark Archive

Ohhhhhh shiny......

Also what is a borderlander spear?

Dark Archive

And could we get some naming convention tie ins for the borderlander?

Tenro wrote:

Oh yeah it was DivineShadow. Didnt recognize the alias at first.

well mine is also able to speak to wolves, so it seems a very wolfy flavour to the party already.

Dark Archive

For names you can use both Nordic and Slavic names. Example of ancient Slavic name is Tolkien's Radagast, who was Slav god of hospitality, among other things. :-)

Need to correct mine. I changed race due someone wanted a shadarim bladedancer (close to assassin class, and has high focus of melee combat with daggers and the like)

Darkone = female Silvarim-based Morgral assassin (acrobatic ranged flavour, though will have daggers for melee)

I will have issues moving character to another setting. nightflier, remember I still have unused characters of adventures that hardly started, those probably need little alteration, probably major overhaul of background through.

Dark Archive

Okay so it looks like we are half range half melee and a pack of wolves so far. Now we just need a channeler or two....

For the Lycan's beast shape ability... it doesn't specify a duration. Is the duration as the spell?

i was wondering if it was once per day, until i change back, or once per day for a set duration. (and if it is the duration, does the x/day increase at all?)

Also, Varyags get an extra Lycan-specific bonus feat when they become Lycans.

are those actual feats (in which case, could you post them when you get a chance)? or did you mean Savageries?

Yarovuk Greypelt will be my character's name. I should have most of a build up this weekend.

Dark Archive

Right now, the only Lycan feat in my document is Consume Scent. You can consider feats from Blood of the Moon by Paizo and Eberron Shifter feats as Lycan feats.

Beast shape lasts as the spell. There is a difference, though. If you change shape while clothed, your clothes will be destroyed. If you wear armor while doing so, you will suffer a d6 damage per armor category.

Dark Archive

Oh, and Yarovuk would mean something like "Ragewolf" or even "Firewolf" :)

I pause working on character until new information comes available, particular Solitude to build background and have influence of the feats, traits I be choosing.

Dark Archive

I'm writing the stuff as fast aa I can, but RL keeps interfering. :)

Right now, it seems to me that I have 3 players dedicated to this game. For now it's enough for you to present your concepts. It looks like we have

1 Varyag Wildlander
1 Varyag Lycan
1 Morgral Rogue

I'm gonna spend the weekend writing stuff about Aliatar and possibly about neighboring regions, such as the Waste to the south and Warlands to the east. I will probably change the focus of the game to provide you factions that you may choose before the game begins. Essentially, a patron that gives you instructions and quests - something like Icons system from 13th Age. I'm still thinking about it.

Dark Archive

Nightflier I think you missed it what with it being an edit but what are the stats for this Borderlander spear I see in the book and is it a Martial weapon for Borderlanders?

Dark Archive

Rogatina: 1d10 x3 or 1d8 x4 Reach, Brace 12 lb. Piercing or Slashing or Bludgeoning. Rogatina is a broad-bladed spear with 6-foot haft and 2-3 feet long blade. Its name means "Big Horn". It evolved from bear and boar hunting spears. Its use is widespread in Borderlands, since it's cheaper to manufacture and maintain than swords. Laos use it differently than other Boderlanders, though. They've developed a style of fighting with rogatina that consists of broad sweeping circular swipes with the blade and short jabs with the end of the haft, usually bound in iron. This style of combat is taught women and town militias, but guardsmen and bodyguards also prefer rogatina as their primary weapon since it can be used effectively in both tight and open spaces.

Eeeek, seem like only 3 interested in exploring a completely unknown world with some exciting interesting mechanics to go with.

nightflier wrote:

I used wikipedia (I dont speak Slavic) and it said strong/fierce/sever for yaro/jaro.

was gonna try to go with something like wolf soul but I couldn't figure out how to combine dusan with vuk

=====

Hmm, sounds like I need some quick-release armor... otherwise using beast form is not feasible in combat and too short of a duration to be useful out of combat!

Dark Archive

Yeah, the word has that connotation, as well as enraged, wrathful... Ancient Slavic god of sun and war was called Yarilo, and word yara (jara) means heat. :)

Is there some sort of lycan armor option? Or do they typically walk around with no armor? Maybe a quick release hide coat armor that can be removed as a free or move action? Since I obviously cannot afford nice magic armor yet

Also are these shifter feats alright? They are the typical eberron pathfinder conversion that is used. Of particular interest to me is Incremental Shifting to begin with.

Dark Archive

Those feats are fine for now. I'll probably modify them a bit later.

There is no lycan armot, but there is I think an armored coat option in PF, which would allow easy removal.

@Tenro, you better pack in extra clothes for those unexpected changes.

@nightflier, I just saw above in my one post "I will have issues moving character to another setting.", should have been "I will not have issues moving character to another setting." The brain was too fast for the fingers again.

I'll just be naked.

J/K, i am thinking of having some sort of kit to mend clothing. or having to wear some real strange poncho-like clothing. or a sarong, hahahaha.

what sort of existing clothing design is there for lycans? surely someone already solved this problem.

Dark Archive

I can see it now. Forced to take the aircraft feat just for mending to fix my brothers clothes lol.

Magecraft stupid auto correct.

divineshadow wrote:

i just need those pants the hulk has.

Elastic latex neoprene type pants.

Hey guys, this is Gortech again :)
Initially I was unable to view any of the homebrew, which really sucked :(
So I had to get to a friends computer to do a "data dump" but now I have the info.
Now I got to read everything....
anyways, now I am actually able to, so I intend on reading a lot, and I still want to be in this!
First idea is that I want to be a fighter, because I like martials a lot, but we will see :)
Btw, you guys can see the un-formatted version here. Btw, its VERY unformatted...

Dark Archive

Okay, so will have four players. I'm gonna wait till Monday and then ask for at least two more.

So taking a look through, i got two basic ideas that i want to fllow through on and get advice for.
The first one is a tower shield specialist. I was hoping i would be able to just wield a massive shield in front of me, using it to shield bash/bull rush/overrun/and or attack with it. In core pathfinder you cannot shield bash with a tower shield nor can you attach armor spikes, aka zero offensive ability.
I want to create a guy with a massive shield that he uses to ram through people with.
I am thinking imperial fighter, big, strong and durable as a rock :)
Of things i noticed;
tough as stone and toughness, he will be a hp tank :)
Gifted: Moar feats!
Tough: hes a hp tank :p
Weapon bond: bonded to the tower shield, using con for damage. Be will still be strong, he wi just have a focus on con. Here is where i need help, how can i make the tower shield do damage?
I also noticed the fighter trait, irristable advance that increases your CMB if you are using a shield, including a tower shield (which cannot be used in a bull rusb or overrun. This is what gave me the whole idea). Its lvl 10 but i really like this idea :)

The second idea was a Gholgral and the line of feats that made a blood drinking, flesh eating vampire that sounds really interesting, except, whats a Gholgral?

Dark Archive

Its a sorta self aware zombie.

I just realized that Darkone is going with the "Enlightened Zombie" so i will leave all those fun looking and jucy feats for him :)
Defently thinking shield fighter here, im really liking the vibe, alghough i would really want to do it with a tower shield if possible, tho i guess i could settle for a regular heavy shield :(
He will be two-handing the thing around and bashing peeps all over the head with his manly muscles and buldging biceps ^_^
Just 2 questions.
Why minimum 6 players? Usually its a maximum that they worry about.
What happens if you use an offhanded/secondary attack as your only attack in a round? Do you still take any penalties?

I have a Morgral, a vampire blood drinking type.

The gholgral, zombie type, is still available.

I was going for a Shadarium assassin, then saw another player wanting a Shadarium bladedancer, which was very close to what I wanted and nightflier also only wanted 1 character from each race. nightflier did provide the bladedancer class for the person. yet we had not seen person again.

quick question:

for Lycan, it says BAB, SAVES, AND SAVES same as fighter.

what about skill points? the entry says what class skills are but not how many points/level

what is a bearded axe?

Dark Archive

@Gortech

Technically, you can make that build and it will work - in part. But, I am not a GM who coddles players. You will certainly find yourself in situations where simply there is no room to wild that kind of shield. If you are prepared to loose your fighting ability at some points, or to be restricted in your options, go for it.

Grals are a group of undead and demi-undead creatures that are appropriate for PCs. Gholgral is something like a ghoul - they are not rotten and dessicated like zombies, but they are obviously dead - and Morgral are my substitution for dhampirs. The main difference is that Morgrals are not necessarily a progeny of a vampire. There is more info in their description.

Skills: 4 + Int

Bearded Axe: It is similar to standard chopping axe. The lower portion of an axe bit is called the "beard" and the cutting edge of the bearded axe extends below the width of the butt to provide a wide cutting surface while keeping the overall weight of the axe low. The hook, or "beard" of the axe is used in battle to hook onto things, such as shields or weapons, to pull them out of the defender's grasp. It can also be used for tripping opponents. Essentially, this is "Hooked Axe" from Pathfinder standard rules. Varyag name for the bearded axe is Skeggöx.

also, max gold for the class, what is the GP for Lycan?

EDIT: ok, bearded axe is martial for Varyags. Can a Varyag Lycan use it? i dont see their proficiencies
