Heavy Crank Crossbow 50ft of silk rope can be wound onto the winch as a full round action (provokes) and attached to a bolt as part of the loading action. When used with a barbed bolt, gain +2 to grapple checks to pull the target toward you. When used with a grappling bolt, gain +2 to climb checks.
Wyrmscourged against dragons, gain +1 attack, +2 Dodge and to saves and to K (arcana) to identify dragons and can make such checks untrained.

***Bolt Aces Dodge: spend 1 grit when being targeted by a ranged attack as an immediate action to move 5ft and gain +2 AC (Dodge bonus) against the attack, or to drop prone (and gain +4 vs the attack). Can only perform this while wearing medium or lighter armor and carrying a light load.
***Sharp Shoot: spend 1 grit to target touch AC at targets within 1 range increment.
***Vigilant Loading: as long as you have 1 grit point reloading crossbows does not provoke.

Gortech was born the son of a merchant family in a small town off the north-eastern tip of Korthos, far removed from Absolam. Here he grew up safe, sheltered, and just a bit spoiled. Gortech's parents were affluent merchants in the small town, with few people enjoying higher status. It was here that Gortech inherited many things from his parents, business sense, how to read someone, the value of a grudge and the value of greed.
Yet his life wasnt meant to last here, for scant decades of this peaceful living was destroyed one day when a great red dragon came. The mighty dragon came breathing fire and devouring anything it could get its massive jaws on. There was panic in the village and those few who were deemed important were sent underground in the cellars while the rest were forced to fight or flee. Here in the dark Gortech sat terrified and afraid, huddling next to his parents listening to the screams and roars from outside. Yet it did not remain dark for long, for soon fire exploded through the cellar door, more screams, then pain, then utter blackness as Gortech passed out.

When he awoke to yet again more pain, he found himself next to the corpses of his parents and the village elders who had been burnt to a crisp. Gortech himself suffered great burns down his left side, from head to foot from the fire. When he emerged from the cellar he found his village razed to the ground and scant few survivors left. It was here that Gortech vowed vengeance on the dragon who had done this, vengance that would later extend to all dragons. Searching around the village for anything that was left he came across a large and heavy crossbow that some other soul had attempted to use against the dragon. Then Gortech had an epiphany. What use is an axe or sword against a dragon? With a crossbow I can take the fight to them and the bigger the crossbow the better.
So Gortech took up the weapon and set off.

Mannerisims
Gortech is a gruff and no-nonsense kind of dwarf. He has his races dour outlook on life and their stoic faces. Yet there is greed in his eyes, for Gortech is incredibly greedy and the thought of a dragons hoard after his long sought vengeance is motivation enough to keep the fires of hatred burning on the coldest of nights.
Gortech is also visibly wary of fire and tries considerably hard to stay distant to any campfires that his peers might set up, often volunteering to take night watch, just to keep his distance.
Gortech can often be heard talking to his crossbow, and calls it Bertha with a loving look. He also looks after it with loving care or tinkering affection. He will also take the teeth of any slain animals and use them to adorn his leather.
Appearance
Gortech is a gruff looking dwarf, lean in the face and strong in the arms. Down the entire left side of him runs nasty looking burns from some great fire and Gortech seems visibly leery of any open flame.
Gortech carries in his hands a great and ornate crossbow that he calls Bertha. This finely crafted wooden machine has carved inlays and silver highlights running up and down its stock. The crossbow has also been modified, and sports a large winch undeath capable of holding a spool of rope.
Gortech himself is robed with a suit of strong leather riddled through with the teeth of the different creatures he has slain, and one day he hopes to add dragons teeth to mix. He also sports rolls of rope circling his body.
Aims
Gortech aims to some day bring down a dragon with his crossbow, Bertha, and after succeeding that (and "liberating" it of its hoard) to rid the world of the Wyrm scourge. To this end he is constantly training and tinkering with his crossbow, and has developed a tactic where he impales a creature with a bolt trailing rope. He then stakes the rope into the ground limiting its mobility and allowing him free reign to pincushion the helpless creature.
Lately, Gortech has heard tales of dragon sightings in the city of Absalom (there are always rumors of dragons somewhere) and it is here that he is headed in pursuit.
