Helping Finding Monsters With Helpful Unique Abilities

Currently in a campaign were a device went off and forcefully "evolved" everyone within the range. My Fighter/Barbarian get the ability to transform into -ANY- medium, Large, or Huge creature as a swift action and gain with it all it's stats and abilities except for languages, skill ranks, and feats(unless the feats are directly tied to one of the monsters skills in which case it is retained). It can also not be a specific monster(Like one of a kind named demon lords such as Nocticula and such).

Any suggestions on good monsters to mark down as potential transformations? Im a real noob when it comes to what monsters do so I have no idea where to start other then looking at dragons.


Well, just leafing through the Bestiary 2, and it looks like a LOT of demons would complement a FightBarb. Some of the more interesting ones would be (will add links to stats soon): Omox, Vrolikai.

Is there going to be some kind of limit on CR range? Because this sounds like it would entirely take away any tension in combat.


Other question, are you allowed to have a template version of the thing you turn into? a half-dragon vampire nymph for example? If you get a yes to that exact option, I would ask to retrain to paladin

EDIT: I really would see if there will be any limits to this, because you could just say

you: I'm an Efreet now. I will grant someone in the party one wish.

party member: I wish we had x McGuffin right now!

Just sticking to the Bestiaries

Drakainia seems obvious because it makes you mythic and you get to literally spawn monsters

otherwise look for high CR outsiders with inherent spell casting like the Solar and Draconal Agathion. Any of these should make your DM change his/her mind.

If you can add templates just go nuts but start with Advanced.

Templates is a no.
The ability doesnt ruin the Battles because the Fighter/Barb is just as strong if not stronger then most of the monsters she can turn into, and everyone else in the group has similarly high power levels. Its an extremely high level campaign with very experienced min/maxers.
Mostly looking for non-combat uses because our combat is already monsterous. Each of us puts out anywhere from 2-4 hundred damamge a round depending on rolls and there are 5 of us.
Everyone else got really cool powers aswell. The barbarian/fighter got this and SLA Make Whole along with +4 natural armor. Gunslinger Got Quicken DD 17/day, 60 fly speed and a unique gun doing from 3d6->6d6 depending on how close she is to the target. Paladin got dragon sight, Fire resist 5*Enchantment Bonus on armor, and His Sword Became Intelligent and can cast Searing Light as a SLA With No Cap(Orginal spell caps damage at level10 I think), Rouge was transformed into a Unique type of barbarian that can eventually wield gargantuan weapons and can turn into a Fiendish Adult Magma Dragon for 25 rounds/day, and cleric got 160 Fly speed(Perfect) and some other stuff she hasnt told us about or we havnt seen her use yet. But this is all a little off-topic xD
