Teaching Broken: What's in it's pocket?!

Advice

From any perspective.

As you level your “Favorite Class” what magic items are essential?

What do you have at 5th?

What do you have at 10th?

What do you have at 15th?

Anyone tricked out at 20?

Well, I generally like combative characters (ie: ones who use a weapon). With pretty good saves (Bard, Inquisitor, Paladin, Barbarian...that sort of thing).

Either Full Plate +1, a Breastplate +1, or a Mithral Chain Shirt +1 (depending on the character), a Cloak of Resistance +1, a +1 weapon, several non-magical backup weapons, a share in a party Wand of CLW, at least one potion of CLW (for emergencies), a Ring of Protection +1 and an Amulet of Natural Armor +1.

Full Plate +3, a Mithral Breastplate +2, or a Mithral Kikko +2 (again, based on character), a Cloak of Resistance +2, a Belt and Headband of stat increases (each +2), a weapon +3 (and assorted non-magical backups, once again), a Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier, a Ring of Protection +1, an Amulet of Natural Armor +1, a Handy Haversack. That leaves something like 10k of other gear that'll vary quite a bit based on the character. More if he's got someone with Crafting Feats in the party (including himself). Additional stat enhancers are very common, and on some builds the weapon might only be +2 to pay for more of them.

Honestly? I don't get up this high very often, but ideally...Mithral Full Plate +5, a Mithral Breastplate +5, or a Mithral Kikko +5 (again, based on character), a Cloak of Resistance +5, a Belt and Headband of stat increases (each +4), a weapon +5 (and assorted non-magical backups, once again), a Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier, a Ring of Protection +3, an Amulet of Natural Armor +3, a Handy Haversack, and an Ioun Stone to increase AC. That leaves, again, 40-50k more. Stat enhancers are again favored, as are items granting stuff like Flight or Freedom of Movement if there's no other easy access to 'em.

Never get up this high. Really couldn't say.
