Can a Nymph cure / remove Permanent Blindness she causes?

Advice

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In my home PFS game, my 3rd level players will likely run into a now-dead NPC's muse - a Nymph. They didn't kill the NPC she was supporting, but she doesn't know that. So depending on rolls, there's a real chance one or more of the characters may get blinded by her Beauty. They're shipwrecked on an island, without access to advanced magics.

So, can she voluntarily cure or remove their blindness if they successfully convince her that they're friendly (they're trying to help the NPC's daughter, who is a Soul-Bound Doll)?

Thank you!

You are the GM, just say "yes".

It's a PFS game? I don't think the GM has that much leeway.

By the rules as written, a nymph has a standard spell list that does not include cure blindness. The blinding effect is singled out as being permanent. So, no, they're boned if she decides to flash them.

Ah yeah, PFS game. Bad lck for the PCs.

It's PFS in that we're using PFS rules most of the time, with a few new creatures or creature mods, house rules (eg, Rules of 69's - whoever rolls a 69 on a percentile die, something good always happens).

Well, if you're not playing under PFS strict rules as written on pain of pain requirements, then you can make whatever house rules make the game more fun for you and your players.

And also, this thread is in the wrong forum. :-)

Liberty's Edge

If you are using mostly PFS rules, but not strictly playing a PFS scenario or sanctioned module/AP for PFS credit, then this query is in the wrong forum.

I am getting the impression that you are asking about a home game that is not be played for PFS Credit?

If I am correct, then you can make up whatever rule you want about this particular Nymph. You an give them the ability to remove the blindness that they cause if you wanted to.

But rules as written, a Nymph does not have the ability to cure the blindness that they cause.

Not a PFS game, but by the standard rules a Nymph has no way to remove the blindness, she can suppress the effect but that would only mean she stops blinding from then on not that those already permanently blinded were cured. However if I were a savvy nymph I would have a few potions or scrolls of Remove Blindness/Deafness on hand.

I apologize for posting in wrong forum - this is my first home game using Pathfinder. What Forum should I use and can the Admin move this to there?

I like this idea - still uses PFS creature's stats, but I can make her smart enough to have stashed away something to help too. Thanks!

And thanks to all for your help!

No problem. The advice forum or the rules forum, probably advice. I've flagged the thread as being in the wrong forum which is no big deal BTW, and the mods should get to it shortly :)
