[Mythic] Weapon Finesse question

Would Mythic Weapon Finesse allow DEX damage to thrown weapons? It says when "using weapon finesse", but weapon finesse doesn't specifically call out melee, mostly because it doesn't need to.

Any thoughts?

I would say yes. Regardless of how you're using the finesse weapon, it's still finesse. Granted you already use Dex to thrown weapon attacks, but as long as the thrown weapon is considered light, then I believe the Mythic feat would apply, allowing Dex bonus to damage.

Also spotted a really nice little feature that I missed. Mythic Weapon Finesse allows classes without shield proficiency to wear a shield without being hampered by the armor check penalty to attack/damage. So... in theory, one could strap on a Tower Shield and go to town with this feat with only a -2 penalty to attack for using a tower shield. Cheesy, sure, but possible.

My GM says he would probably not allow it. As I was already using DEX to make attacks. quoting the flavor text from weapon finesse to imply RAI "You are trained in using your agility in melee combat, as opposed to brute strength."

I'll keep looking for something to back up my point, but it doesn't seem likely.

No, when you throw a weapon you are not using weapon finesse.

Try this i am a rogue with an 18 dex and level 2. I have weapon finesse.

I attack with a dagger its +5 to hit i throw a dagger it is +5 to hit.

If he doesnt have weapon fineese he is still +5 to hit. Weapon fineese is not relevant to the thrown weapon.

That said it is mythic and i really dont see an issue with it.

The answer is that it depends entirely on what you're throwing. Mythic Weapon Finesse only applies to the types of weapons that regular Weapon Finesse does. So, by the rules, it applies to daggers but not shortspears. Ergo, by the mythic version of the feat, you would be able to apply your Dex mod to damage with a thrown dagger, but not with a thrown spear. This also means you couldn't do this with something like a javelin, since it's classified as a ranged weapon and not a 'light' weapon.

Not relevant isn't the same as not being used. Meaning it doesn't change anything, normally it would be useless, BUT does that mean you are not considered using it for the purposes of Mythic weapon finesse
