Looking at all the different race traits, obviously they are presented for specific races, but I came across this:
"Members of any race can select a bloodline race trait, as they represent distant bloodlines intermixed with or corrupting those your race."
Is this true? I can find it drawn from any of my books, can anyone tell me if and where I could find this?
As I read this quote, it appears that it opens up all sorts of interesting flavor options for character backgrounds, if any race can use any racial trait.
or specifically...
I have a gnome sorcerer (draconic/elemental crossblooded) with the pyromaniac alternate racial trait.
As 1 of his 2 racial traits for PFS, I would love to give him:
Snap Ignition (Ifrit): You are a pyromaniac by nature and love nothing more than setting fires.
Benefit(s): As a full-round action, you can produce a small flame at the end of your finger that ignites combustible materials as a tindertwig. Alternatively, you can maintain a flame equivalent to a candle by spending a standard action each round to concentrate on it.
This would fit nicely into the background store of the character being driven to adventuring in order to find the source of his magic, and tracing it back through his lineage to either a dragon or ifrit.
Mechanics-wise, I see nothing that would be a problem by any DM, but as I mostly play PFS, is there anything I can site as proof that this is a "legal" choice, in case it were to ever be questioned at a table?
Thank you in advance for your response

Sorry... Bloodline Race Traits are a specific type of trait found in Ultimate Campaign.
"Members of any race can select one of these traits, as they represent distant bloodlines intermixed with or corrupting those your race."
The text doesn't authorize you to willy nilly select racial traits from any race you desire, or even to select race-restricted traits. It just says you can select one of these new "Bloodline Race Traits", and there is a specific list of such.

IIRC I think that was in the last few pages of Bastards of Golarion and more meant for home games than pfs as there is no way to mechanically show (other than a trait) what you are. Not to mention a quick look in the additional resources of the ARG shows your idea would not be legal.
Note: Alternate racial traits, racial archetypes, racial evolutions, racial feats, and racial spells are only available for characters of the associated race. Racial equipment and magic items can be purchased and used by any race as long as the specific item permits it (for example, only halflings can purchase and use solidsmoke pipeweed).
The new alchemist discovery on page 44 is legal for play for characters of all races.

It is from Ultimate Campaign (you can search a prhase in the PRD, that is how I did find it). the whole citation:
Bloodline Race Traits
Members of any race can select one of these traits, as they represent distant bloodlines intermixed with or corrupting those your race.
Blood of Dragons: Long ago, your ancestors' blood mixed with that of dragons. Choose one of the following: gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, gain low-light vision, or gain a +2 trait bonus on saving throws against effects that cause sleep or paralysis.
Deathtouched: At some point you were tainted with the corruption of the undead, and you have gained some of their defenses. You gain either a +1 trait bonus on Fortitude saving throws or a +2 trait bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects (your choice).
Fiend Blood: The blood of fiends taints your line, manifesting physically, though it may be barely noticeable. Choose one of the following skills: Bluff, Intimidate, or Knowledge (planes). You gain a +1 trait bonus on checks with that skill, and it is always a class skill for you.
Snap ignition from People of the Sands is a "new race trait", not a "Bloodline Race Traits" AFAIK, so it don't seem to benefit from this rule.
Edit: Ninjaed for the time spent in checking the People of the Sand book. Sigh.
