Need Help Leveling up to level 2 with eidolon

In regards to the str/dex bonus, does the eidolon get +1 to both it's strength and dex scores? This seems very powerful. Why does it say depending on form?

I wanted to take "magic attacks" as an evolution. Why does it say its treated as magical for overcoming damage reduction? Does this mean it can attack incorporeal creatures? If so, don't magical attacks do half damage? Would the eidolon do half damage or would it overcome the damage reduction and do full damage?

Yes, you do increase strength and dexterity of your eidolon by 1 point each at 2nd level. Since eidolons start out with even ability score values for those two stats, the only immediate benefit is a slight increase in carrying capacity. The "depending on form" part is used to determine the initial strength and dexterity values that you are adding those +1s to -- note that each form has different base strength and dexterity values.

Some monsters have stats such as "DR 5/magic". That means that damage from any physical attack not made by a magic weapon is reduced by 5 hit points. An eidolon with this evolution would count its natural attacks as magic weapons and thus not subtract the 5 hit points. Its natural attacks are also more effective against incorporeal targets (50% chance of hitting as opposed to no chance, if I am recalling correctly).

Oops -- the chance of "hitting" is not what is modified, the damage is. Non-magical attacks do no damage to an incorporeal creature, while magical attacks do half damage. So an eidolon with the Magic Attacks evolution would attack normally, roll damage for each attack that hits, and cut the resulting damage of each attack in half.
