GW Blogs: Can we get better summaries?

Can we get some better summaries for the blogs?

It would be nice to have something like:

"In this weeks blog Ryan talks about the relative merits of the Goblin Ball trade, and a we bring you a video blog from Lee and Stephen explaining what we can expect to find in the different hex types."

The new setup is nice but still has issues. I like moving away from a huge single page, but now it's harder to find specific sections as I can't ctrl+f search for keywords. So I am driven to google "site:Goblinworks.com, ________" which works, but it would be nice to have everything on the website.

One of these would be nice: https://www.google.com/cse/

I'm so glad that Shane Gifford's been transcribing the vlogs, because without his contribution, an increasing number of Summon Nihimon spells would fail. I, for one, read so much faster than people talk that I'm in favour of updates going all-written-all-the-time, but I suspect I'm in a minority.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

Literacy was decried as OP, so the Corporate Board nerfed the liberal arts altogether. Knowledge of rhetoric is permitted only to psychologists and fortune tellers, while logic is a bannable offense.

I personally like the written blogs better than videos as well, though I'm sure Goblinworks has their reasons for switching the format, and if laid out those reasons would seem perfectly rational and sensible. One plus is that we get more clips of gameplay with video blogs. :)

While it's certainly easier to link and reference text, I really like the video blogs. It's a lot easier to capture the devs' own sense of excitement - for example, seeing Lee talk about an escalation that requires you to feed refugees. It's also a lot easier to get a sense of whether the speaker is choosing their words carefully or simply using a phrasing that conveys the general meaning they want without carefully considering all the possible connotations.

It's also hard for me not to consider that it must be considerably easier on the devs to sit in a video room for half an hour than it is to spend a day or three polishing a written blog entry.

With so much undefined or described, as yet, and little time left to do it with bi-weekly blogs... I move for a written blog alternated with a vblog, each week.

*cracks whip!* ;)

Im in the same camp as Jazz and Shane. I read faster than I can watch, and its easier for me to have a couple of things going at the same time if I can read through it quickly. I get Nihimon's point though about ease and getting across the sense of excitement. maybe split the difference and do a bit of both or alternate? Either way, Im happy were getting the regular updates :D

And lest I forget, props to Shane for the transcriptions!

On the other hand, I don't read much faster than I listen, but I understand far better if I have both.
