How do I use blessing card's and How does it work?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

As I am unable to find any information on this at all.
I want to know the rules about using dice for blessing card's.
Me and my opponent had abit of an disagreement so we were unsure of this. Especially when the card indicated discard this card to add an extra die roll and I was certain it just add's an extra point to the die but my opponent think's he can roll again for an extra turn even when using card's like blessing of lamashtu where it say's add 2 dice to a check to defeat a monster so he rolled 2 more times which I happened to disagree,which he should of only rolled once more if I am correct.

When you make a check, you first define a skill you will use for the check. Lets say Valeros is making a Melee check. His Melee is Strength + 3 and his Strength is a d10, so he'd be rolling 1d10 + 3.

Playing a blessing to add a die to the check would let him roll 2d10 + 3. (Two 10 sided dice and add 3 to the final result.) Playing a blessing to add 2 dice to the check would let him roll 3d10 + 3. (Three 10 sided dice and add 3 to the final result.)

So they literally add another die (or 2) to the check you are rolling. If you don't have that many copies of the necessary die, just roll it multiple times and keep track of the total.

I'm curious though at your use of the word "opponent". Did you just mean your opponent in the debate about blessings? The game itself is cooperative, so the only opponents are the cards.

For something like the blessing of Lamashtu, you need to decide which ability you're using - you can discard it from your hand to add one die (of whatever type is already being used) to any check, OR, you can bury it to add 2 dice (again, relevant type) to the check to defeat a monster

Did you just mean your opponent in the debate about blessings?
Yes I did, Even we were working together as a team we were debating about the gameplay.

I am still confused by what you said.
So does that mean the person I was playing with was right about rolling 3 times?

Also I mentioned about blessings giving an extra die roll.
What does that mean? Do I roll again and discard as many from my hand?

He rolls the d10 3 times (or if you buy extra dice he can roll 3 different d10s at the same time). I think lots of people buy extra dice since the game only comes with 1 of each of the dice.

Lets do this as an example.

Valeros is going to attempt a combat check to defeat a monster. He plays a weapon that says "For your combat check reveal this card to roll your strength or melee die + 1d8." He also plays a Blessing of Lamashtu, choosing its "Bury this card to add 2 dice to a check to defeat a monster" power since he is trying to defeat a monster. He puts the Blessing of Lamashtu under his character card since he has to bury it. So, Valeros will need to roll 3d10 + 1d8 +3. So he needs to roll a d10 3 times, a d8 1 time and add 3 to the result.

So from his rolls:
d10 = 2
d10 = 3
d10 = 8
d8 = 4

That adds up to 17. He adds the +3 from his Melee to that for a grand total of 20.

Does that make it clear?

Thank you, I understand now.

So I guess my partner was right and I was wrong.
Well I guess I lost that debate.

Sorry, I am new to this game just to let you know.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I'll amend that slightly, he is a SAVIOR among SINNERS... we gotta get the deck 5 plug in there properly!

Tee-hee!

According to Amazon, my deck will arrive May 8-10. Couple more weeks before I can join the sinners.

And in the immortal words of Billy Joel:
"I'd rather laugh with sinners than cry with the saints... Sinners are much more fun... and ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG!"

I have to jump in and nitpick something.

The apostrophe does not indicate plurality. It indicates possessiveness. Please stop using it incorrectly.

One card, two cards.
Mike owns a bike, it is Mike's Bike.

Eh....this isn't an English class. It's not his native language, and he probably speaks and writes in it FAR better than you could do in his. Just sayin'...

Normally, I wouldn't bother with a comment like this...but the level of presumption evident in your post offended my sensibilities enough to make an exception.

The problem is that incorrect use of punctuation is a problem with native speakers. There's a reason this book exists.

Actually, native speakers tend to have it fine when errors are made as native speakers can read typos and 'implied' meanings when misspelled words are used.

Like in the thread title, I assume the poster actually meant to type:
"How Do I Use (the) Blessing Card's (Powers) and How Does It Work?"
Since "it" is one, so "Card's Powers" makes more sense than multiple "Cards" when you take into account the rest of the statement, even though it'd be missing the 'the'.

It's those non-native speakers/readers that have to use translation software that tend to have the real issues, as many automatic translators can't deal with typos or misspellings.

All that being said, it's actually punctuation issues and word usage that make some of the rules for PACG hard to follow for some people.
