This here is the Melder, a medium BAB guy who looks a little freaky but can hopefully really shine in combat. He can do combat maneuvers, hit things, and even fly around.

I don't have the time right now to really dig into the Melder, but how do you feel about psionics? 'Cause Dreamscarred Press released an aberrant archetype for their aegis base class that might be worth a look at least for ideas to loot. And as neither actually utilize psionic powers (aka spells) or manifester (aka caster) levels, it's very easy to rewrite the flavor as non-psionics.
That's a great idea. I am actually a big fan of Dreamscarred Press's work, I just haven't looked at any of the Aegis Archetypes. Thanks for the find!
