Whenever you earn prestige you earn the same amount of fame. The difference between the two is that you can spend prestige on items and on various other rewards. You can't spend fame, it's merely a ceiling for which rewards you qualify for and which items you can buy with gold.

They are two halves of the same thing. When you earn one, you earn the other, so older chronicles that only show Prestige still give just that much Fame as well.
Fame is the running grand total the character has ever earned.
Prestige is a spendable resource. It is the current amount the character has left.
