Mummy not Undead?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I searched the forum for "mummy" and it had no results, so I'll post about it here.

A question came up over at BGG about the Mummy card.

In general, the Mummy in Pathfinder is an undead, which makes it immune to certain things. There are a few cards of the undead trait in the PACG as well, and they all share two certain immunities.

Should the Mummy, being an undead, also be immune to Mental? Or was that purposefully left off of the card?

The relevant post is here:

I haven't gotten the set and opened it yet so I'm not sure if the card actually has the text in question on it or not, but basing on the thread there, it seems to be missing this specific immunity.

Sadly, I realized after I came back today to check on a reply... that I named the thread the wrong thing. I had Undead on the brain, heh.

I meant to name it "Mummy not Immune to Mental"?

Alas, I cannot edit it or my post *mutters*.

Huh. So looking at it now, I see the Mummy is immune to Cold and Poison as opposed to the normal Mental and Poison. Maybe in PACG mummies still have some limited brain function compared to other undead, thus making them susceptible to the mental trait.

The regular PRPG mummies have all the regular undead traits, including the immunity to "mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, phantasms, and patterns)", which translates to PACG's Mental trait.

That is why I wanted to ask this question. I didn't know if it was just something that was missing and needed errata or if it was an intentional deviation from the norm.

It should be immune to the Mental trait.

I think your link is broken.

Nice goin', Vic. You broke the internets.

Also, I just noticed the Mummy also says to add 1d8 to attempts to defeat the Mummy with the Fire trait, as opposed to the normal "checks" to defeat language.

I'd say normally that wouldn't be worth an errata, but since you are already doing one for this card anyway, maybe it is.

Link fixed. Also, fair point on attempts vs. checks.
