Ironwood Spell Expiration Effects

Rules Questions

Lantern Lodge

So... Uncharted waters here I think:

A druid takes some wood, crafts a wooden scimitar (or uses shape wood), and then casts ironwood on it to make just a standard scimitar, all of which is completely legal as described in the ironwood spell.

My question is what happens when the spell runs out mid combat, and said druid hits something with just a regular wooden scimitar?

IMO, treat it as a Scimitar for purposes of feats (weapon focus, dervish dance, so on) but change the damage & Crit profile to that of a club. It's how Pathfinder treats a Bokken in Jade Regent.

I would say, treat it as a club, or great club if it's a 2-hander. Remember, a druid can wield any metal weapon they have proficiency with, whether from their starting list, or any other they get (from multiclassing or taking the proficiency feat). So you can have a greatsword wielding driud if you wanted.

They lose their powers if using metal armor only. But yeah, I would treat it as a club or greatclub, depending on if it is 2handed or not.

In that case, the druid is wielding an improvised weapon. It falls under the same GM discretion as any other improvised weapon.
