What kind of performance?

I'm making an animal speaker bard whose performances are anmal imitations. Would that be considered song or oratory?

Oratory, probably, unless it's specifically something like a bird's song.

Depending on how you do it you could make a case for any performance you wanted.

As only a couple of the Bardic abilities are actually tied to performance types, it doesn't really matter, except for those, in which case, you would need to be using a perform skill appropriate to the bardic ability.
