Swap out value of paladin spellcasting

Homebrew and House Rules

I know that the Warrior of Light archetype exchanges all spellcasting for a paladin for some extra LoHs and other light/aura abilities. Any other choices from a house-rule or 3rd party to exchange for spellcasting?
Or an example of a "Spell-less Paladin" class?

Thanks

We exclusively use the WoL as the base paladin in my group, but I seem to recall there was a 3.0 or 3.5 variant that gave 1 bonus feat per 4 levels in exchange for a half caster spell block.

I'm sure there are others.

Half casting ability (paladin, ranger, bloodrager) is about equal to 4-5 feats or a similar 3 to 5 class features, as working on multiclass archetypes for the last 3+ years has taught me. It is a balancing act dependant upon the new abilities you are swapping in.

Here's 3 MCAs that swap out paladin spellcasting. As I said, its an artform to get the right balance, compared to the rest of the class.

Divine Duelist (Pal/Rog)
Merciless Crusader (Pal/Inq)
Weeping Execution (Pal/Nnj)

Compare the ranger Skirmisher archetype, which loses spellcasting.

Yeah, big fan of skirmisher. Our base rangers and paladins are spell-less.

I'll have to check out the MCAs again for the spell-less variants; you guys do good work and I'm sure I can find some options we'll use.

The Trapper archetype trades out spellcasting as well.

Remember though, that trading out spellcasting also means giving up wand use outside of UMD skill rolls.

Glad you pointed that out. I always forget to mention that part.

Scarab Sages

In the Advanced Race guide there's a dwarven paladin archetype called the Stonelord.

It swaps out spellcasting and goes a step further. It also swaps out all the charisma dependant class abilities (divine grace, smite evil, even many of the auras and most of the mercies).

What's left doesn't feel much like a paladin. It's less of a spiritual warrior and more of an elemental warrior who gets defensive stance, level based fortification (essentially a miss chance against critical hits), a level based ac bonus & the damage reduction from the invulnerable rager. Oh and it gets an earth elemental companion instead of the usual sacred bond.

It's different. Interesting, but different.
