Multiattack and two weapon fighting feats....help..

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

alrighty... searched the internet and the forums and nothing really explained it to me... maybe I am just stupid.

but if a critter has say...
claw, claw, tail and bite (with the multiattack feat)

but it ops to use two weapon fighting with weapons because they are more effective than its two claw attacks...

would it get 3 manufactured weapon attacks then the tail and bite?

for a total of 5 attacks... and then with improved two weapon fighting taking it to 6 attacks?

just really needing clarification please.

Judging by the description you gave, it has a BAB of 6-10. In which case, yes, two-weapon fighting would have 3 attacks with two weapons. Add on the tail & bite makes that 5 attacks, though of course the natural attacks are all secondary due to natural weapon rules, so they take a -2 due to the Multiattack feat, rather than the normal -5. Taking Improved Two-Weapon Fighting would give six attacks. You are correct in everything so far as I can tell.

Alrighty then thanks for the verification brother
Been beating my brain up over that.

You need to give the creature's BAB for this to make sense. Corwin is assuming it's +6 to +10, but is that correct? If it has no iteratives your calculations are off by one attack.

If a monster has bab +11 and say a 24 str its normally +18 x2 claw +16 tail (if it has multi attack)

If it has the twf feat and two short swords its

+16/+13 mainhand 1d6+7 +16 offhand 1d6+3 tail +16.

Woops I effed up and made his bab to high subtract 1 from all my numbers

Liberty's Edge

well largely I just wanted to confirm that the effect does stack, that using multiattacks and two weapon fighting will grant the additional attacks of two weapon fighting and that multi weapon fighting wasn't simply just overshadowing two weapon fighting making it a somewhat worthless feat for a critter.

Grand Lodge

Multiattack has no effect on the number of attacks, in any way.

Multiattack only lessens the penalties of secondary attacks.

That's it.

As long as you are not using a limb used to make a manufactured weapon attack, then you can make an attack with all natural weapons, as part of a full attack.

Well multiattack and twf essentially don't interact at all other than the using manufactured weapons with natural attacks rules. I'm not sure what multiweapon fighting has to do with th discussion.

Liberty's Edge

yup cool

I was just wondering as with multi attack they are already using their limbs to engage, but with two weapon fighting added in... they are using... the same limb... to engage again.

lol no worries I was just tired from a patrol.
