I'm running a 4th level female Castigator Paladin, and am planning ahead for what I might want to have for my bonded mount.
Does anyone have any ideas for "flavor" outside the usual suspects? I've been looking at things like Dire Wolverines, or maybe something that flies (other than griffons/hippogriffs).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Once played in a group with a paladin following a dragon god who applied the draconic template to his mount. It was quite awesome.
For something more reasonable, I guess the question is really "what are you looking for?" Give us something to work with.
A roc? A bear? A giant chameleon? (I've seen a chameleon mount in action, it was hilarious).

I allowed a human Paladin to have a size medium dog as an animal companion because he had a whole hunter motif going and did not want to have a tracking companion rather than a horse. It worked well flavor wise as dogs are loyal, and loving and kind of paladiny (Mouse from the Dresden files anyone?). Additionally as the paladin was the face of the party having a big fluffy dog around was good for NPC relations, less scary to the villagers than a tiger though depending upon your DM that might not be an issue.

My Paladin of Erastil cohort rides his megaloceros - Ramrod.
The beast is smarter than him in some ways and its a freaking tank!
He does a lot of collateral damage to the battlefield with his 10' rack and just sheer bulk.
(We treat him like he's about as big as large can be before becoming huge.)
Gave him the Racer archetype & made him a river elk(megaloceros) variant.
Rocket powered, amphibious, extra-large, sharp, pointy, massive rack tearing through the Stolen Lands goodberry eating moose-like beastie that can carry the whole party and drag a few standing stones along too!
