So question about a corner case here - initial search fu did not turn anything up.
I am a regular GM in my local Society group, and every once in a while I get a chance to play too. Right now we're doing Curse of the Riven Sky with PFS characters, meeting on a bi-weekly basis. My Pathfinder Chronicler is level 9.
If I run a scenario in one of the off-weeks, can I apply my GM credit to this character (Obviously not until we're done with the module)? If the answer is yes, the order become important - if I ran a 5-9, I could apply it first and then apply the Riven Sky chronicle, but if it goes module then scenario, I would be out of tier.
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Since you started the module before the date of the scenario, the module needs to be applied first. Once you start a lengthy session (whether it be like that or a play by post game, for example) the character being played is locked in. Nothing else can be applied til that session is done.
Right, but you don't decide which character receives the credit until you report at the end. So how can your character be locked in if he or she is getting GM credit?
I would think that you would go by the date on the chronicle sheet (which would be the date you finish running).

I think he was implying that he was playing the module with his 9th level PFS PC, not GMing it. In which case, that PC is "locked" until the module ends, since applying a credit before the module is applied can do strange things to the ongoing PC, like adding resources he shouldn't have, and applyuing the credit to a PC who is locked in a game can also do strange things, like wind up with a credit applied to a PC who died permanently before receiving it...

When you start playing a multi-session module your PC is locked-in and can not be used to play anything else until you finish the module or take the Chronicle for partial credit.
If you GM other adventures and apply the GM credit to the PC currently playing in a module, you have to wait until you add the module's chronicle to your PC's stack before adding the GM credit chronicle(s). Though I would advise against applying any GM credit to the PC while it is playing a module as the dates would make it look hokey to any future GM reviewing your chronicle stack.
You need to be careful doing this though. If your PC levels out of the tier for the adventure(s) you run, you won't be able to apply those chronicles to that PC as it will be out of tier* when you try.
* and being out of tier is not the same thing as being out of sub-tier for gold calculations.

Previous discussion on the same topic (OK it's PBP rather than multiple sessions IRL, but the same points apply)
As you can tell from this thread and the one I've linked to, there's some confusion over whether the GM credit should be 'slipped in' even while the PC is locked in the game, the GM credit should be held until after the module chronicle is applied, or if the PC is a legal target for the GM credit at all while he's locked in a module.
I believe, based on the language used in the Guide, that while you're playing a PC in a long game (e.g. PBP, module over 2+ sessions), that PC is locked from receiving any other credit. In any case, taking the conservative approach in such a grey area seems like a wise idea.
It'd be great to have this cleared up officially.

Sorry, I think that I misapprehended the original question. I agree with Seth, you can't apply GM credit to a PC currently engaged in a multi-session event (just like you can't play that PC in another scenario).

Thanks, gang. I was trying to schedule some games to level up the PC I'm playing in the module, and one of my goals is to retire him before I move in August - so I'll just run some 7-11 scenarios to apply after he gets the Chronicle instead of wondering about those 5-9 sheets.
In full agreement that some clarification could go a long way on this topic.
