Hi everyone,
My girlfriend and I are very excited to explore this hobby together. We wanted to keep the evenings to just the 2 of us. The Pathfinder world and books really grabbed our attention. We're both board game fans, but are really drawn by the fantasy role play atmosphere. We figured it's time we stopped hunting down fantasy themed board games, and tried 'the real thing!'
I'm not quite sure what the Pathfinder adventure paths offer in terms of structure, but it sounded like something I should investigate. Neither of us have any experience, but want to learn and I'd be comfortable handling GM duties, as long as the platform provided lots of structure, and there'd be an opportunity to be both GM and player. Am I barking up the right tree here? Where should I start???
Thanks for helping some extreme newbies!

Try the Beginner Box
Welcome to this wonderful hobby and this fine community. If you're just starting out, the Beginner Box is a great product. Jumping right into an adventure path and the core rules will probably be overwhelming. RPGs are also kind of tough with a GM and just one player so you should start thinking of friends you can recruit as well.
Enjoy.

You can do anything! It's an imagination game; people do solo games all the time, GMing and playing a character is hard to do but entirely possible, people do it all the time. I'd recommend starting with published stuff, but keeping notes on stuff you want to do if you run your own adventure. My favorite is Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition; it's very iconic of the flavor of the game and is very well done; it's also great for people new to the game to figure out what it is. It is very episodic but ties everything together well, they put in mysteries, horror, dungeons busts, and a rising feel of epicness to get the feel of exactly what the game "engine" can do with good stories. I hope that helped somewhat and game on.
