Pitch me a Shaman build?

Advice

Hello, folks.
So, in an ongoing adventure I'll shortly need to create a new character due to story reasons where my current one is heading off on a bit of an off-screen side quest and I need a fill-in. I'm in a three-man party with a gnome illusionist sorcerer and a human fighter. We have a fourth player that sort of comes and goes who's playing a rogue. Anyway, my side-questing character was basically a retooled 3.5 warlock, and so for this new stand-in (who I might be playing for quite some time) I am thinking of trying out the Shaman from the ACG Playtest. Obviously the party lacks a healer and a divine spellcaster, and while I'm not interested in turning into a healbot, I thought at least it'd be nice to play someone who at least has basic healing capacity. Our GM isn't very harsh, and we've not really been at risk of dying thus far. Started at level 5 and this character will come online once we hit level 7, which is soon-ish.

Anyway, to cut things short, I've read through the Shaman. I like the concept a lot, the flavor is awesome, but I have a bit of trouble grasping how to build one of these. They remind me of oracles the most, hardly a lot of witch in there really except for the familiar-ish spirit animal. A shaman would really fit the flavor of the adventure and it just seems fun to try out a new class. I've built oracles and witches in the past, but since shamans run mainly off the druid spell list that feels a lot different. So, does anyone have any cool builds for a shaman? I'm mainly just looking for ideas for inspiration; not asking people to build a whole character for me or anything. Really, any sort of observations or pointers would be welcome.

EDIT: Should probably clarify that this is a home game in a homebrew campaign setting and we're running off a 25-point buy, if that's any help.
